Ray Seals
Raymond Bernard Seals (born June 17, 1965) is an American former football defensive end in the NFL. He is famous for not having attended college, a rarity in the NFL. Ray lettered in football at Anthony A. Henninger High School in Syracuse, New York. Seals started in Super Bowl XXX as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ray Seals went from playing for the minor-league Syracuse Express of the Empire Football League to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1989. He went to the Steelers in 1994 as a free agent and played two seasons as their starting right defensive end. He was injured in 1996, his third season with the Steelers, and finished with Carolina in 1997. Ray Seals was inducted into the American Football Association's Semi-Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992. Defensive End
Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. History Early formations, with six- and seven-man lines, used the end as a containment player, whose job was first to prevent an "end run" around his position, then secondarily to force plays inside. When most teams adopted a five-man line, two different styles of end play developed: "crashing" ends, who rushed into the backfield to disrupt plays, and "stand-up" or "waiting" ends, who played the more traditional containment style. Some teams would use both styles of end play, depending on game situations. Jonny Gammage
On October 12, 1995, African-American businessman Jonny Gammage was killed by police officers from several departments around Pittsburgh. Background Jon E. Gammage was on born on July 20, 1964, in Syracuse, New York, to Johnny L. and Narves Gammage. He was the cousin of Ray Seals, an NFL football player for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Gammage graduated from the University at Buffalo in 1987. He was Seals's business partner and adviser, helping him manage his entrepreneurial and philanthropic ventures. Death On October 12, 1995, Gammage was driving a dark blue 1988 Jaguar XJ6 towards his apartment in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. The car he was driving belonged to Seals, who was not present.
