Ray Picard
D. Raymond "Ray" Picard (born January 4, 1928) is a member of the Northeastern University athletics Hall of Fame. Picard was elected in 1977 for his exploits as a hockey goalie. Picard was a two time All-American for the Huskies, the first All-American at Northeastern. Before coming to Huntington Avenue Picard spent two years in the Marine Corps. He also honed his hockey skills for the Boston Junior Olympics and was also voted that Most Valuable Player in the 1948 US Amateur Championships. At Northeastern, Picard besides being named All-American twice, also won the Leonard M. Fowle Award, for New England's Most Outstanding Player and the Walter A. Brown Award for Most Outstanding American College Hockey Player in New England. The Boston Bruins are a professional ice hockey team based in Boston. The Bruins compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference. Worcester Warriors Rugby Football Club is a professional rugby union club, based in Worcester, England, that is currently in Administration (law), administration and which has been suspended and will be relegated from Premiership Rugby, the top division of domestic rugby. The American Hockey Coaches Association was formed in 1947 in Boston. The founding members coached college ice hockey but membership has grown to include coaches at every level of the sport from youth hockey to professional ice hockey, although the organization maintains a focus on the collegiate game. The Division I AHCA All-American Teams are an annual honor bestowed by the American Hockey Coaches Association to the college hockey players judged to be the top performers in their division. Each team is composed of at least one goaltender, two defensemen and three forwards on ice hockey programs. At least one all-star team has been named by the since the start of NCAA tournament play in 1947–48 after the conclusion of either the regular season or the conference tournaments.
