Ray Branighan (born 5 December 1947) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer, a star and of the 1970s for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles, as well as the New South Wales state and Australian national representative sides. Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks
The Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks are an Australian professional rugby league club based in Cronulla, in the Sutherland Shire, Southern Sydney, New South Wales. They compete in the National Rugby League (NRL), Australasia's premier rugby league competition. The Sharks, as they are commonly known, were admitted to the New South Wales Rugby League premiership, predecessor of the Australian Rugby League and the current National Rugby League competition, in January 1967. St George Dragons
The St. George Dragons is an Australian rugby league football club from St George District in Sydney, New South Wales that played in the top level New South Wales competition and Australian Rugby League competitions from the 1921 until the 1997 ARL season, as well as the unified 1998 National Rugby League season. On 23 September 1998, the club formed a joint venture with the Illawarra Steelers, creating the St. George Illawarra Dragons team which competed in the 1999 NRL season and continues to compete in the league today. As a stand-alone club, it fields teams in the NSWRL underage men's and women's competitions, Harold Matthews Cup, S.G. Ball, and Tarsha Gale Cup. Luke Branighan
Luke Branighan (born 29 June 1981) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 2000s. He played in the National Rugby League for the St George Illawarra Dragons and Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, primarily as a . He is the nephew of both Ray Branighan and Arthur Branighan. Career Branighan made his debut with St George Illawarra halfway through 2000. He remained in the first-grade team for the rest of the season, playing in the halves with Trent Barrett. He joined the Sharks in 2001, but made only one further NRL appearance. While playing for New South Wales Cup side Balmain Tigers in 2005, Branighan was selected to tour with the Malta Knights. In 2009 he played for the Gateshead Thunder and in 2010 he played for Halifax in the Co-operative Championship. Returning to Australia, Branighan played for Mounties in the Bundaberg Red Cup in 2011. Arthur Branighan
Arthur James Branighan (born 1943) is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s and 1970s. Playing career A local junior from the Redfern United Club, Branighan was graded with South Sydney in 1963 and went on to play nine seasons with the club between 1963 and 1971. He was approached by legendary junior coach, former international Clem Kennedy to play Presidents Cup for South Sydney in 1962, and his career went on from there. After an illustrious career at Souths, which included two premiership victories in 1968 and 1970 a groin injury forced his retirement in 1972. Branighan was also a member of Souths unsuccessful Grand Final team of 1965 and was a non playing reserve for the 1969 and 1971 Grand Final teams.
