Raunora Westcott
Raunora Westcott (born May 1, 1976) is a Canadian curling, curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Career Juniors Westcott played lead for Team Manitoba (skipped by Kristy McDonald, Kristy Jenion) at the 1996 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. The team finished with a 5-7 record, missing the playoffs. Women's Westcott won her first Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts, provincial women's championship 2010 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts, in 2010 playing lead on Team Jill Thurston. The team represented Manitoba at the 2010 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, where they finished the round robin with a 7-4 record, and lost in the tiebreaker match. Westcott joined the Cathy Overton-Clapham rink at second for the next season. With her new team Westcott won the 2011 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts, her second provincial title in a row. The 2011 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Manitoba's women's provincial curling championship, was held January 26–30 in Altona, Manitoba at the Sunflower Gardens Arena. The winning Cathy Overton-Clapham team represented Manitoba at the 2011 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The team went 4-7 in round robin play. 2017 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials
The 2017 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials (branded as the 2017 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings for sponsorship reasons) were held from December 2 to 10 at the Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata, Ottawa, Ontario. The winners of the men's and women's events would represent Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics. The women's final was won by Team Rachel Homan in front of her home town crowd. She defeated Team Chelsea Carey 6–5, after Carey missed a pivotal double takeout on her last shot of the 10th end. The men's final was won by Team Kevin Koe from Alberta. He defeated Team Mike McEwen 7–6, drawing to the button for one on the last stone of the 10th end. Rachel Homan
Rachel Catherine Homan (born April 5, 1989) is a Canadian international curler. Homan is a former Canadian junior champion, a three-time Canadian national champion, and the 2017 world champion, all as a skip. She was also the skip of the Canadian women's curling team at the 2018 Winter Olympics. During her junior career, Homan competed in two Canadian Junior Curling Championships, placing second in 2009 and winning the championship in 2010. She also won a silver medal at the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships. Throughout her women's career, Homan has medalled at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the Canadian women's national curling championships, seven times, winning gold three times (2013, 2014, and 2017), silver three times (2019, 2020, and 2021), and bronze once (2015). The 2017 Scotties Tournament of Hearts was held from February 16 to 26 at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario. The 2017 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship of Manitoba, was held from January 25 to 29 at the Eric Coy Arena in Winnipeg. The winning Michelle Englot team represented Manitoba at the 2017 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in St. Catharines, Ontario, finishing second. The event was most notable for the defeat of the defending Olympic champion Jennifer Jones rink in the semifinal. Michelle Englot
Michelle Englot (born January 22, 1964 in Montmartre, Saskatchewan; formerly known as Michelle Ridgway and Michelle Schneider); is a Canadian curler from Regina, Saskatchewan. She currently plays second on Team Brooklyn Stevenson. She is a nine-time provincial champion skip. Career Englot started curling at age twelve, and represented Saskatchewan at the 1983 Canada Winter Games. Englot won her first Saskatchewan Scott Tournament of Hearts provincial championship in 1988, she defeated Kathy Fahlman 10–0 in the final. This qualified Englot for her first Tournament of Hearts national championship. At the 1988 Scott Tournament of Hearts, she finished with a 9–2 record, but lost in the semi-final to Heather Houston of Ontario. 2013 Canadian Olympic Curling Pre-Trials
The qualification event for the 2013 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials (branded as the Capital One Road to the Roar for sponsorship reasons), was held from November 5 to 10 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex in Kitchener, Ontario. The top two finishers of the men's and women's events qualified to participate in the 2013 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. The teams played in a triple-knockout tournament where four teams qualified for the playoff round. The first two qualifiers and second two qualifiers played against each other, and the winner of the first game advanced to the Trials. The loser of the first game then played the winner of the second game to determine the second team that would advance to the Trials. The Manitoba Curling Tour (MCT) Championships is an annual bonspiel on the men's and women's World Curling Tour. It has been part of the WCT since 2013.
