Anita Ratnam
Anita Ratnam (born 21 May 1954) is an Indian classical and contemporary dancer and choreographer. Classically trained in Bharat Natyam, she has also received formal training in Kathakali, Mohiniattam, and T'ai chi and Kalarippayattu, thus creating a dance style which she has coined "Neo Bharatam". She is the founder-director of Arangham Trust, set up in 1992 in Chennai. She also founded Arangham Dance Theatre, a performance company in 1993 and in 2000 she created Narthaki.com, an Indian dance portal. Kakani Venkata Ratnam
Kakani Venkata Ratnam was a former cabinet minister in Andhra Pradesh in India. Life He was born in Akunuru, Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh,, where he was educated up to primary level. He learned Sanskrit and Hindi languages from a tutor at a neighbouring village, Kunderu. He was attracted to the then freedom struggle movement started by Mahatma Gandhi. As a student youth leader he mobilised youth to join the movement along with others including Pidikiti Madhava Rao, Rebala Buchi Ramaiah Shresty, Kalapala Surya Prakash Rao and Peta Brahmaiah. They organised a meeting at Vijayawada in 1923 which was addressed by Gandhi and later the place was named Gandhi Nagar municipal grounds. He worked in support of the Khadi movement too. Gandhi also visited Akunuru and spent the night he spent at Vuyyuru. Ratnam accompanied Gandhi in his tour programme which stretched up to Mudunuru. Gopala Ratnam Subramaniam (born 2 June 1956), known professionally as Mani Ratnam, is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer who predominantly works in Tamil cinema and few Hindi, Telugu and Kannada films. Ratnam has won six National Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards, six Filmfare Awards South, and numerous awards at various film festivals across the world. In 2002, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, acknowledging his contributions to film. Samantha Shantini Ratnam (born 1977) is an Australian social worker, politician and the current leader of the Victorian Greens. Since October 2017 Ratnam has been a member of the Victorian Legislative Council, representing the Northern Metropolitan Region. Prior to this she was a councillor and mayor for the City of Moreland. Dewan Bahadur Sir Raghupathi Venkataratnam Naidu (1 October 1862 – 26 May 1939) was an Indian social reformer who hailed from Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh in India. His father Appayya Nayadu worked as a subedar in Madras Army. Their forefathers served as commanders in Madras Army and East Indian Company Army since its inception i.e. late 17th Century. He was a disciple of Veeresalingam, and has been described as "the most powerful orator of his day". Ratnam SC is a Sri Lankan professional football club based in Colombo, that competes in the Sri Lanka Champions League, the top flight of Sri Lankan football. The club was founded in 1950.
