Ratkovo
Ratkovo ( sr-cyr, Ратково) is a village located in the Odžaci municipality, West Bačka District, Vojvodina, Serbia. As of 2011, the population of the village is 3,411 inhabitants. Name The former name of the town was Parabuć ( sr, Парабућ). In German, it was known as ''Parabutsch'', and in Hungarian as ''Paripás'' or ''Parabuty''. In 1948, it was renamed Ratkovo for , a Yugoslav fighter in the Spanish Civil War. History The village was first mentioned in 1543. During the Ottoman rule (16th-17th century), Parabuć was populated by Serbs. Since the end of the 17th century, the village belonged to the Habsburg monarchy, and since 1781 many Germans settled here besides Serbs. Between 1918 and 1991, it was part of Yugoslavia. Demographics According to the last official census done in 2011, the village of Ratkovo has 3,411 inhabitants. Odžaci
Odžaci ( sr-cyrl, Оџаци, ; hu, Hódság) is a town and municipality located in the West Bačka District of the autonomous province of Vojvodina, Serbia. The town of Odžaci has a population of 8,795 people, while the population of the municipality of Odžaci is 30,196 people (2011 census). Name The name ''Odžaci'' / Оџаци means "chimneys" in Serbian. Formerly, the settlement was also known as ''Odžak'' / Оџак ("chimney"). The Slavic/Serbian word "odžak" (or plural "odžaci") is a modification of the Turkish word "Ocak" (bearing the same pronunciation), meaning "fireplace". In Croatian, the town is also known as ''Odžaci'', in Hungarian as ''Hódság'', and in German as ''Hodschag''. The old Hungarian name of the settlement was "Kéménd", first mentioned in 1522, and meaning "with chimney". Boško Perošević
Boško Perošević ( sr-Cyrl, Бошко Перошевић; 17 September 1956 – 13 May 2000) was a Serbian politician and former Chairman of the Executive Council of Vojvodina. Biography Perošević was born in Odžaci and grew up in the near-by village of Ratkovo. He completed elementary and secondary school in Ratkovo and Odžaci, then Higher School of machine engineering and Economical Faculty in Subotica and received his masters degree at the Technological Faculty in Novi Sad. He visited the Soviet Union as a student and in addition to Serbian, he spoke Russian and English. In the specialized magazines he released several professional papers, while as a designer of tools and devices he patented several innovations. Jovan "Jovica" Stanišić ( sr-cyr, Јован "Јовица" Станишић; born 30 July 1950) is a Serbian former intelligence officer who served as the head of the State Security Service (SDB) within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia from 1992 until 1998. He was removed from the position in October 1998, months after the outbreak of Kosovo War. Although very little was known about him during the 1990s, he is widely seen as the "mastermind and conductor of controlled chaos" during the large part of Yugoslav Wars. Despite being the closest person to the President of Serbia Slobodan Milošević, with enormous impact on wartime events, he kept permanent contacts with all the factors involved in the conflict.
