Ratikant Kanungo
Ratikanta Kanungo is an entrepreneur, builder, educationist, media baron and film producer of Odisha, India. He is also a notorious financial fraudster. Coming from a poor lower-middle-class family, he rose to quick fortunes in real estate business, becoming managing director of the Shibani Estates and Promoters Pvt Ltd. He produced a number of Oriya movies and also established a chain of schools and colleges. In May 2013 he drew media attention following the Central Bureau of Investigation exposure of his involvement in the multi-million rupees scam involving fraudulent gold loan availed from Odisha Gramya Bank by mortgaging fake jewellery. Laxmisagar (ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀସାଗର) is a famous place in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha. Etymologically the name is derived from the words " Laxmi", meaning the Hindu Goddess of Wealth, and "Sagar", which in Sanskrit means the sea or ocean. Laxmisagar is famous for the Central Jail, which is one of the biggest jails in Odisha. Bhubaneswar (; ) is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Odisha. Ravenshaw University, formerly known as Ravenshaw college, is a co-educational state university situated in Cuttack, Odisha on the eastern coast of India. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) is a statutory film-certification body in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India. It is tasked with "regulating the public exhibition of films under the provisions of the Cinematograph Act 1952." The Cinematograph Act 1952 outlines a strict certification process for commercial films shown in public venues. Films screened in cinemas and on television may only be publicly exhibited in India after certification by the board and edited. Harshad Mehta
Harshad Shantilal Mehta (29 July 1954 — 31 December 2001) was an Indian stockbroker and a convicted fraudster. Mehta's involvement in the 1992 Indian securities scam made him infamous as a market manipulator. Of the 27 criminal charges brought against Mehta, he was only convicted of four, before his death (by sudden heart attack) at age 47 in 2001. It was alleged that Mehta engaged in a massive stock manipulation scheme financed by worthless bank receipts, which his firm brokered for "ready forward" transactions between banks. Mehta was convicted by the Bombay High Court and the Supreme Court of India for his part in a financial scandal valued at which took place on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
