Rathdowney–Errill GAA
Rathdowney–Errill GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association hurling club in County Laois, Ireland. The club colours are green and red. The club was created in 2005 by the complete amalgamation at all levels of hurling of neighbouring clubs Errill and Rathdowney. Both the Rathdowney and Errill Clubs remain as separate football clubs competing in the Laois Junior B Football Championship. History Prior to the foundation of the Errill GAA Club in 1928, players from Errill and surrounding areas played their hurling with Rathdowney. In the 1970s and 1980s, both Rathdowney and Errill joined forces at Minor and Under 21 level, competing in eight minor finals, including seven in a row from 1976 to 1982. This amalgamation proved successful winning a total of five Laois Minor Hurling Championship titles, including a four in a row 1976–1979. Gaelic Athletic Association
The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA; ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael ; CLG) is an Irish international amateur sporting and cultural organisation, focused primarily on promoting indigenous Gaelic games and pastimes, which include the traditional Irish sports of hurling, camogie, Gaelic football, Gaelic handball and rounders. Brian Campion (hurler)
Brian Campion (born 1984) is an Irish hurler who played as a goalkeeper, corner-back, full-back, wing-back and centre-back for the Laois senior team. Born in Rathdowney, County Laois, Campion first played competitive hurling during his schooling at St. Fergal's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene as a member of the minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He made his senior debut during the 2005 championship. Campion immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen and won one National League (Division 2) medal. At international level Campion played for the composite rules shinty-hurling team at under-21 level in 2005. He was a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, however, he never won a Railway Cup medal. Ross King (hurler)
Ross King (born 16 August 1993) is an Irish hurler who plays for Laois Senior Championship club Rathdowney–Errill and at inter-county level with the Laois senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a left corner-forward. Career King first came to prominence as a member of the Rathdowney–Errill club at juvenile and underage levels. He eventually joined the club's senior team and has since won County Championship titles in 2012, 2014 and 2019. He simultaneously played with University College Dublin in the Fitzgibbon Cup, having earlier won a Collingwood Cup medal as a soccer player. King made his first appearances at inter-county level during a three-year stint with the Laois under-21 team. He joined the Laois senior hurling team in 2014 and was at corner-forward when Laois secured the 2019 Joe McDonagh Cup title.
