Ratchawong Pier ( th, ท่าราชวงศ์, ท่าน้ำราชวงศ์, ท่าเรือราชวงศ์; sometimes spelled: Rachawongse; designated pier code N5) is a pier on Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. Description Ratchawong Pier located at the end of Ratchawong Road in the area of Chinatown close to historic and shopping districts, Sampheng and Song Wat Road. The pier was the port where goods were embarking to the cargo ships anchored middle the Chao Phraya River. These ships were the main means of transport, both passengers and cargoes, links Bangkok to Chonburi, Chanthaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, and Ban Don (Surat Thani). At its heyday there was direct tram route to the pier, and around 11.00 p.m. or midnight during the Chinese New Year, it was also a pier that supports many passengers to take ferry to pay homage Sampokong, a large Buddha of Wat Kanlayanamit in Thonburi side. Wat Kanlayanamit
Wat Kalayanamitr Varamahavihara ( th, วัดกัลยาณมิตรวรมหาวิหาร, , ) is a Buddhist temple (wat) in Bangkok, Thailand. The temple is located in Wat Kanlaya sub-district, on the Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya River. The temple was established in 1825 by Chaophraya Nikonbodin (born To, th, เจ้าพระยานิกรบดินทร์ (โต)), a wealthy Thai Chinese trader, who donated the temple to Rama III. Chaophraya Nikonbodin was an ancestor of the Kalayanamitr family, whose descendants include Saprang Kalayanamitr. A poem inscribed in the temple reads: Wat Kalayanamitr Varamahavihara is one of three family temples of the Kalayanamitr family, along with Wat Rakhang and Wat Chakkrawatdirachawat Woramahawihan. Bangkok Mass Transit Authority ( th, องค์การขนส่งมวลชนกรุงเทพ), also known as BMTA ( th, ขสมก. ), is the main operator of public transit buses within the Greater Bangkok area. The Chao Phraya Express Boat ( th, เรือด่วนเจ้าพระยา ''Ruea Duan Chao Phraya'') is a transportation service in Thailand operating on the Chao Phraya River. It provides riverine express transportation between stops in the capital city of Bangkok and to Nonthaburi, the province immediately to the north. Established in 1971, the Chao Phraya Express Boat Company serves both local commuters and tourists. It also offers special tourist boats and a weekend river boat tours, as well as offering boats available for charter. Along with BTS Skytrain and Bangkok MRT, using the boats allows commuters to avoid traffic jams during the peak hours on weekdays.
