Rashmita Minz (born 16 December 1997) is an Indian field hockey player from Odisha Odisha (English: , ), formerly Orissa ( the official name until 2011), is an Indian state located in Eastern India. It is the 8th largest state by area, and the 11th largest by population. The state has the third largest population of ... and member of Indian women hockey team. In March 2022, Indian Oil Corporation Limited recruited her along with eight other players. She plays as a defender. Career Minz hails from Deogarh district. Her father Nicholas Minz joined her in the Panposh hostel and she trained under coaches Pradeep Kumar Sarangi and Amulyananda Bihari in her initial years. Under chief coach Neil Hawgood, Rashmita Minz made her Senior India debut in 2016 as an 18-year-old against the mighty Australian team when India played three matches in Melbourne. India Women's National Field Hockey Team
The Indian women's national field hockey team (nicknamed the ''Nabhvarna'') represents India in international field hockey, and is governed by Hockey India. Nabhvarna are currently ranked 6th in the FIH World Rankings, and are ranked as the best team in Asia. They have won the gold medals at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and 1982 Asian Games. Field Hockey
Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, synthetic field, or indoor boarded surface. The stick is made of wood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, or a combination of carbon fibre and fibreglass in different quantities. The stick has two sides; one rounded and one flat; only the flat face of the stick is allowed to progress the ball. During play, goalkeepers are the only players allowed to touch the ball with any part of their body. A player's hand is considered part of the stick if holding the stick. The Women's Hockey Asia Cup is a women's international field hockey tournament organized by the Asian Hockey Federation. The 2017 Women's Hockey Asia Cup was the ninth edition of the Women's Hockey Asia Cup. It was held from 28 October to 5 November 2017 in Kakamigahara, Gifu, Japan.
