Rashid Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi III
Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi ( Arabic: ), (1902 6 September 1981) was the 9th Ruler of Ajman and ruled the emirate from 1928 until 1981. Throughout his 53 years as Ruler, he worked to build Ajman. He was one of the founding fathers of the United Arab Emirates. He is the father of the current Ruler, Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi III. The ruling family belongs to the Al Na'im tribe. He established the Ajman Police in 1967. Humaid Bin Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi
Humaid bin Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi was Ruler of Ajman, one of the Trucial States which today form the United Arab Emirates (UAE), from 1910–1928. His rule was marked by a running conflict with the Al Bu Shamis and their charismatic Sheikh, Abdulrahman bin Muhammad Al Shamsi. Accession Humaid bin Abdulaziz was travelling in Muscat when he received the news of his father's death in an attempted coup and rushed back to Ajman to consolidate his position as the next Ruler of the emirate, forcing the leader of the coup, his cousin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, to flee for his life. One of Humaid's first acts once he had established himself was to respond to a rather snooty letter from the British Resident to all of the Trucial Sheikhs, warning them not to undertake any concession for pearls or sponges with any foreign agent. The Al Nuaimi ( ar, النعيمي) family is the ruling royal family of Ajman, one of the seven emirates that together comprise the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The family name is derived from the singular of 'Na'im': the Na'im is a major tribal confederation divided into three sections, the Al Bu Kharaiban, the Khawatir and the Al Bu Shamis (singular Al Shamsi). The Rulers of Ajman are drawn from the Al Bu Kharaiban section. Na'im
The Na'im () (singular Al Nuaimi ) is an Arab tribe in the United Arab Emirates. The tribe is also present in other gulf countries. The Na'im is divided into three sections, the Al Bu Kharaiban, the Khawatir and the Al Bu Shamis (singular Al Shamsi). It is from the former section that the current Rulers of the Emirate of Ajman are drawn. Of the three sections, the Al Bu Shamis has become virtually independent and associated closely with the Al Bu Falasa of Dubai. The traditional heart of Na'im territory was the oasis town of Buraimi and nearby Al Ain, where Na'im expansion came at the expense of the Dhawahir tribe, but also rubbed up against the Bani Yas and the allied Manasir. Although the Na'im were linked to the growing Wahhabi influence in the Buraimi area and adopted the doctrine, they allied with other forces to evict the Wahhabis from Buraimi and subsequently occupied many of the forts around Buraimi. Sheikha Fatima bint Rashid Al Nuaimi (died 14 December 2014) was an Emirati Ajman royal and a member of the Al Nuaimi and Al Sharqi families. She was the mother of the present Ruler of Fujairah, Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, who has held that position since 1974. Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi
Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi was the Ruler of Ajman, one of the Trucial States which today form the United Arab Emirates (UAE), from 1838–1841, when he was deposed by his brother, Abdelaziz bin Rashid Al Nuaimi. Humaid ruled from Abdelaziz' death in 1848 until his own death in 1864. Accession Humaid acceded following the death of his father, Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi. Rashid's eldest son, Ali, was a businessman and had removed himself from day to day involvement in the ''majlis'' and had no interest in becoming Ruler. The family nominated Humaid to take the position. He married a daughter of Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi who was, at the time, Ruler of Sharjah and with whom Humaid was closely allied. In 1841, his brother Abdelaziz took possession of Ajman fort and declared himself Ruler.
