Rasheed El-Enany
Rasheed El-Enany (born 1949) is an Egyptian literary scholar, who specializes in modern Arabic literature. He is Professor of Arabic and Comparative Literature, and Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. He is also Professor Emeritus at the University of Exeter. Arabic literature ( ar, الأدب العربي / ALA-LC: ''al-Adab al-‘Arabī'') is the writing, both as prose and poetry, produced by writers in the Arabic language. The Arabic word used for literature is '' Adab'', which is derived from a meaning of etiquette, and which implies politeness, culture and enrichment. Arabic literature emerged in the 5th century with only fragments of the written language appearing before then. The Qur'an, widely regarded as the finest piece of literature in the Arabic language, would have the greatest lasting effect on Arab culture and its literature. Doha Institute For Graduate Studies
The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies is a higher education institute in Doha, Qatar. Its first student enrollment was in the 2015/2016 academic year. Naguib Mahfouz
Naguib Mahfouz Abdelaziz Ibrahim Ahmed Al-Basha ( arz, نجيب محفوظ عبد العزيز ابراهيم احمد الباشا, ; 11 December 1911 – 30 August 2006) was an Egyptian writer who won the 1988 Nobel Prize in Literature. Mahfouz is regarded as one of the first contemporary writers in the Arabic literature, along with Taha Hussein, to explore themes of existentialism. He is the only Egyptian to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. He published 35 novels, over 350 short stories, 26 screenplays, hundreds of op-ed columns for Egyptian newspapers, and seven plays over a 70-year career, from the 1930s until 2004. All of his novels take place in Egypt, and always mentions the lane, which equals the world. His most famous works include '' The Cairo Trilogy'' and ''Children of Gebelawi''. Nadine El-Enany is a writer and legal scholar. She is Professor of Law at Kent Law School, University of Kent. She specializes in migration and refugee law, European Union law, protest and criminal law. Life Nadine El-Enany is the daughter of the Egyptian literary scholar Rasheed El-Enany. She gained her PhD, on refugee law in the United Kingdom and the European Union, in 2012 from the European University Institute in Italy. Yusuf Idris
Yusuf Idris, also Yusif Idris ( ar, يوسف إدريس) (May 19, 1927 – August 1, 1991) was an Egyptian writer of plays, short stories, and novels. Biography Idris was born in Faqous. He originally trained to be a doctor, studying at the University of Cairo. He sought to put the foundations of a modern Egyptian theatre based on popular traditions and folklore, his main success in this quest was his most famous work, a play called "Al-Farafeer" () depicting two main characters: the Master and the Farfour (poor layman). For some time he was a regular writer in the famous daily newspaper ''Al-Ahram''.
