Rapid FC
Southern Football Club is a football club from Kingston, Tasmania, Australia. They compete in the Southern Championship of the Football Federation Tasmania. The club was formed in 2009 by the merger of two existing clubs, Kingston Cannons and Christian United. History Rapid FC Rapid FC was founded in 1958. Rapid was highly successful during its life winning the State Championship 4 times, and the Southern Premiership 5 times. For a brief period in the 1980s, due to sponsorship reasons, they were known as Rapid-Wrest Point, before switching back. They played their final match in 1996, being relegated in the process to the Southern League 2. The name was changed and the club reformed as Kingston Cannons. They immediately won the Southern League 2 and were promoted back to the League 1. Merger At the end of the 2009 season, Kingston Cannons merged with Christian United to form Southern FC. The Southern Championship is an association football league in Southern Tasmania. It is jointly with the Northern Championship, the second highest level soccer competition in Tasmania. Nationally, it sits below the A-League and NPL Tasmania. It is controlled by the Football Federation Tasmania (FFT). Kingston, Tasmania
Kingston is a town on the outskirts of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Football Federation Tasmania
Football Tasmania (FT) is the governing body for soccer in the Australian state of Tasmania. The federation oversees competitions across Tasmania, Tasmanian representative teams, and development of the sport in the state. The federation was known as the Tasmanian Soccer Association until 1996, when it was renamed to Soccer Tasmania. In line with national changes in March 2006, it became Football Federation Tasmania. In February 2019, the organisation became simply Football Tasmania. Football Tasmania sanctions all competitive football matches in Tasmania, either directly in the case of its own leagues, or indirectly, as is the case with local regional junior associations. The Tasmanian soccer championship describes the method of determining the best soccer club in Tasmania, Australia. The championship has been decided using three different formats; a statewide league, a playoff between Northern and Southern league Champions and lastly a statewide finals system with top teams from Northern and Southern leagues.
