Edwin Ransford
Edwin Ransford (13 March 1805 – 22 November 1876) was an English opera singer and composer. Biography Ransford was born at Bourton-on-the-Water, near Moreton in the Marsh, Gloucestershire, on 13 March 1805. He first appeared on the stage as an extra in the opening chorus at the King's Theatre, Haymarket, and was afterwards engaged in the chorus at Covent Garden. During Charles Kemble's management of Covent Garden, Ransford was heard as a baritone in the part of Don Caesar in the '' Castle of Andalusia'', performed on 27 May 1829, and was engaged soon afterwards by Samuel James Arnold for the English Opera House (now the Lyceum). In the autumns of 1829 and 1830 he was at Covent Garden. In 1831 he played leading characters under Robert William Elliston at the Surrey Theatre, where he won great popularity. Bransford
Bransford is a village and civil parish in the Malvern Hills district of the county of Worcestershire, England. It is situated close to the River Teme and the village of Leigh. It is on the primary route between Worcester and Hereford, the A4103 that runs through the centre of the village. According to the 2011 census, Bransford has a population of 389. Vernon Seymour Ransford (20 March 1885 – 19 March 1958) was an Australian cricketer who played in 20 Test matches between 1907 and 1912. Ransford was a smooth and stylish left-handed batsman who could score with ease all round the wicket or defend patiently as the situation required. He played for Victoria from 1904 to 1928. He was also an outstanding fieldsman, who could pick up and throw the ball in one movement and with great accuracy. Ransford's best Test series was the 1909 tour of England when he topped the Australian batting averages, helped by a career best score of 143 not out, finishing with 353 runs at an average of 58.83. On the whole tour he made 1783 runs at an average of 43.48, and hit six centuries. The following year he was a Wisden Cricketer of the Year. Thomas Ransford (born 1958) is a British-born Canadian mathematician, known for his research in spectral theory and complex analysis. He holds a Canada Research Chair in mathematics at Université Laval. Ransford earned his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in 1984. Teresa Mary ("Tessa") Ransford (8 July 1938 – 2 September 2015) was a poet, activist and the founding director of the Scottish Poetry Library. Biography Teresa Ransford was born in Mumbai, India on 8 July 1938. Her mother was Lady Torfrida Ransford and her father was Sir Alister Ransford, Master of the Mint of Mumbai. The family moved back to the United Kingdom in 1944, finally moving to Scotland in 1948 when her father took up the position of bursar at the Loretto School in Musselburgh. Charles Ransford, M.D., was a traditionally educated British physician and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, who later became the private physician of the Duke of Northumberland and an early advocate of homoeopathic medicine. Ransford Brempong (born July 22, 1981) is a former Canadian National Team member and professional basketball player for the Fraser Valley Bandits of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). He currently works as the colour commentator for the team. He also runs WCT Hoops which is a basketball organization that offers high level training and development for athletes in high school.
