Ranong Airport ( th, ท่าอากาศยานระนอง) is an airport serving Ranong, a town in Ranong Province, Thailand. Location Ranong airport serves the province of Ranong in the southern part of the country, it is located 500 km from Bangkok. The airport is located in a flat area at an altitude of 17 m above sea level, from the east there is a mountain range, between it and the airport territory there is highway number 4. The Department of Airports (DOA) ( th, กรมท่าอากาศยาน) is a Thai government department under the Ministry of Transport. It operates 28 civil airports throughout the country. The department was split off from the Department of Civil Aviation in 2015, part of a restructuring response to ICAO's downgrading of Thailand's aviation safety rating. The other agency that previously formed part of the old department is the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand. Operations Only 17 DOA airports turned a profit between 2009 and 2016 while the total number of passengers jumped 25 percent. In 2018, DOA's revenues from its 28 airports was 853 million baht. Ranong
Ranong ( th, ระนองPronunciation) is a town (''thesaban mueang'') in southern Thailand, capital of the Ranong Province and the Mueang Ranong District. The town covers completely the area of the ''tambon'' Khao Niwet (เขานิเวศน์). As of 2005, it had a population of 16,163. Ranong lies south-southwest of Bangkok by road. Geography Ranong is on the estuary of the Pak Chan (or Kraburi) River, opposite Myanmar's Kawthaung (formerly Victoria Point). The Tenasserim Hills rise directly to the east of Ranong, and another small ridge runs along the edge of the estuary to the town's north. Khao Nom Sao (เขานมสาว), " female breast mountain", is a land feature located in Ranong Province, Thailand. Description Khao Nom Sao is the highest summit of a rugged mountain massif that stretches roughly from north to south in the Kra Isthmus. This mountain range represents an important catchment area for many rivers of the Ranong and Chumphon provinces, forming a natural border between both provinces. Khao Daen and Khao Huai Siad, are other prominent peaks of the chain, which is part of the wider Tenasserim Hills. The Boeing 737 is a narrow-body aircraft produced by Boeing at its Renton Factory in Washington. Developed to supplement the Boeing 727 on short and thin routes, the twinjet retains the 707 fuselage width and six abreast seating with two underwing turbofans. Nok Air (, th, นกแอร์, derived from ''nok'' (นก), the Thai word for ''bird'') is a low-cost airline in Thailand operating mostly domestic services out of Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport. Thai Airways International owns the fourth-largest stake in the airline. History Nok Air was established in February 2004 under Sky Asia Co., Ltd. and started operations on 23 July 2004. As of March 2007, it had 130 employees and had reached around 1,400 employees by 2014.
