Rannveig Djønne
Rannveig Djønne (born March 3, 1974) is a Norwegian folk musician from Djønno in the municipality of Ullensvang, Norway. Djønne plays diatonic button accordion and is a graduate of the Ole Bull Academy in Voss. She released her first CD in December 2008. The CD is called ''Spelferd heim – slÃ¥tter frÃ¥ Hardanger og Voss pÃ¥ durspel'' (Spelferd Heim: Tunes from Hardanger and Voss for Button Accordion). Other performers with her on the CD are Inger Elisabeth Aarvik, Arngunn Timenes Bell, Anders Hall, Kim André Rysstad, Lajla Renate Buer Storli, and Tuva Syvertsen. Djønno is a small village on the Oksen Peninsula in the municipality of Ullensvang in Norway's Hardanger district, in Vestland county. Geography Djønno lies near the sea on the west side of the Eid Fjord, about south of the ferry station in Bruravik Bruravik is a ferry quay in the municipality of Ulvik in Vestland county, Norway. Ullensvang is a municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Hardanger. The administrative centre is the town of Odda. Ole Bull Academy
The Ole Bull Academy ( no, Ole Bull Akademiet, established 1977 in Voss, Norway) is a Norwegian music college that offers college-level courses on Norwegian folk music and folk dance. Today, the Academy educates about 700 students annually, and over 9000 students had taken a course at the Academy in 2003. Near the end of 2009 the figure was 12,000. Biography The idea of an academy came from Ole Bull in 1863. He wished an academy that was based on Norwegian folk music, and a ballet inspired by Norwegian village dances. The idea was turned into reality by Sigbjørn Bernhoft Osa in 1977, First by course in the "slåttespill" for students at the Norges Musikkhøgskole and Bergen Musikkonservatorium. Nils Ellingsson Tjoflot (October 13, 1865 – July 11, 1898) was a Norwegian violinist from Tjoflot in the municipality of Ullensvang in Norway's Hardanger district. Life Tjoflot was born at the Ytrabødn farm in Tjoflot, the son of Elling Nilsson Tjoflot (1819–1870) and Barbro Endresdatter Folkedal from Trones (1837–1905). Nils was an only child, and his father died when he was five years old. There had not been any previous violinists in the family, but there were many violinists in Tjoflot and Nils was motivated to perform alongside them. He received a violin from his mother when he was seven years old. The instrument was probably made by Hans Eikanes, and it was probably Eikanes that also taught Tjoflot to play the Hardanger fiddle.
