Rank Nazeer Ahmed
Nazeer Ahmed (also known as Rank Nazeer) is an Indian Muslim scholar, politician, historian and translator. He is the author of the Encyclopedia of Islamic Historywww.historyofislam.com. He is a former politician of Indian National Congress, a former Member of Legislative Assembly from Karnataka, and Member of Karnataka Knowledge Commission, Government of Karnataka. Early life He was born in Tumkur in the state of Mysore, India in 1939. His father Abdul Azeem was a spiritual scholar of the Sufi Qadiri order. In 1952, he achieved the first rank in the entire state of Mysore and won the Maharaja of Mysore Gold Medal. He has been known as “Rank Nazeer Ahmed” due to the consistency with which he ranked first in state and interstate exams. He entered the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 1961 as an Institute Scholar as well as a Tata Scholar. He was awarded MS and AeE degrees from Caltech. Karnataka Legislative Assembly
The Karnataka Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the bicameral legislature of the Indian state of Karnataka. Karnataka is one of the six states in India where the state legislature is bicameral, comprising two houses. The two houses are the ''Vidhan Sabha'' (lower house) and the ''Vidhan Parishad'' (upper house). The members of the Legislative Assembly are directly elected by people through adult franchise. Eidgah
Eidgah or Idgah, also Eid Gah or Id Gah ( fa, "site of Eid bservances; bn, ঈদগাহ; pnb, ; ur, ; hi, ईदगाह) is a term used in South Asian Islamic culture for the open-air enclosure usually outside the city (or at the outskirts) reserved for Eid prayers offered in the morning of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. It is usually a public place that is not used for prayers at other times of the year. On the day of Eid, the first thing Muslims do in the morning is gather usually at a large open ground and offer special prayers, in accordance with the Sunnah (traditions of Muhammad). Although the usage of the term ''Eidgah'' is of Indian origin, it may be used for the ''musalla'', the open space outside a mosque, or other open grounds where Eid prayers are performed, due to the lack of a specific Islamic term for a site of Eid observance.
