Ranjitsinh Pratapsinh Gaekwad
Ranjitsinhrao Gaekwad (8 May 1938 – 10 May 2012) was an Indian politician. Early life and education Born 8 May 1938 at Ootacamund, Ranjitsinhrao Gaekwad was the second son of Maharaja Pratap Singh Rao Gaekwad (r. 1939–1951), and Maharani Shantadevi Gaekwad (d. 2002), daughter of Sardar Hausrkar Mansinhrao Subbarao of Hasur in Kolhapur. Her daughter, Mrunalini Devi Puar was the Chancellor of The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. He also obtained post graduate degree in fine arts from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. He was the younger brother of Fatehsinghrao Gaekwad, who was the titular Maharaja of Baroda from 1951 to 1971. In the 26th amendment to the Constitution of India promulgated in 1971, the Government of India abolished all official symbols of princely India, including titles, privileges, and remuneration ( privy purses). Ootacamund
Ooty (), officially known as Udhagamandalam (also known as Ootacamund (); abbreviated as Udhagai), is a city and a municipality in the Nilgiris district of the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, formerly Baroda College, is a public university in the city of Vadodara, in Gujarat state, India. Originally established as a college in 1881, it became a university in 1949 after the independence of the country. Jyotsna Bhatt
Jyotsna Jyoti Bhatt (6 March 194011 July 2020) was an Indian ceramist and potter. She first studied at and then for forty years taught at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda . Biography Jyotsna Bhatt was born on 6 March 1940 in Mandvi, Kutch State (now Kutch, Gujarat). She studied at the Sir J. J. School of Art in Bombay (now Mumbai) for a year. Later she joined the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 1958 to study sculpture under Sankho Chaudhuri. She became interested in ceramics there. She studied ceramics under Jolyon Hofsted at the Brooklyn Museum Art School in the borough of Brooklyn in New York City in the United States during the mid 1960s. She returned to India and settled in Baroda (now Vadodara). In 1972, she joined the Department of Sculpture's ceramic studio in the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda as a professor. Jayant Parikh (born 2 April 1940) is an Indian artist, printmaker, and muralist. He is a student of N. S. Bendre, K. G. Subramanyan and Sankho Chaudhuri. He lives and works in Vadodara, India. His work is held in the collections of the National Gallery of Modern Art (in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangaluru) and the Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi. Raja Ravi Varma ( ml, രാജാ രവിവർമ്മ; 29 April 1848 – 2 October 1906) was an Indian painter and artist. He is considered among the greatest painters in the history of Indian art. His works are one of the best examples of the fusion of European academic art with a purely Indian sensibility and iconography. Specially, he was notable for making affordable lithographs of his paintings available to the public, which greatly enhanced his reach and influence as a painter and public figure. Anand Bhate (born 29 April 1971) is an Indian classical vocalist from the Kirana gharana. He is popular for his classical singing of songs from the Marathi film ''Balgandharva'' (2011). Early life and training Anand was born in Pune, India in 1971, in a family active in classical music. He inherited the singing tradition from his great-grandfather Bhate Buva, who was a well known vocalist for Thumri and Natya Sangeet in the 19th century.
