Rangoli Metro Art Center
Rangoli Metro Art Center was developed by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL), after the construction work of the MG Road metro station, Bangalore was completed. It was inaugurated on 6 May 2013. BMRCL redesigned the walkway with bougainvillea, as was available for the public before the construction of the metro rail station. The center includes art galleries, auditorium, play area for kids, and a walkway. Rangoli - Namma Metro Art Center
Rangoli is an art form that originates from in the Indian subcontinent, in which patterns are created on the floor or a tabletop using materials such as powdered lime stone, red ochre, dry rice flour, coloured sand, quartz powder, flower petals, and coloured rocks. It is an everyday practice in many Hindu households, however the colours are preferred during festivals and other important celebrations as it is time consuming. Rangolis are usually made during Diwali or Tihar, Onam, Pongal, and other Hindu festivals in the Indian subcontinent, and are most often made during Diwali. Designs are passed from one generation to the next, keeping both the art form and the tradition alive. Rangoli have different names based on the state and culture. Namma Metro ("Our Metro" in Kannada), also known as Bengaluru Metro, is a rapid transit system serving the city of Bengaluru, India. Upon its inauguration, it became the first underground metro system in South India. Namma Metro has a mix of underground, at grade, and elevated stations. MG Road Metro Station, Bangalore
Mahatma Gandhi Road, commonly referred to by the abbreviation MG Road, is a station on the Purple Line of the Namma Metro in Bangalore, India. It was constructed by Punj Lloyd and opened to the public on 20 October 2011. The station MG Road has a bicycle stand next to the Urban Square, from where commuters can rent cycles. This metro station will serve as Namma Metro's 2nd interchange station after Majestic metro station for the upcoming Pink Line. History Boulevard The old MG Road boulevard was demolished to build Namma Metro. The reconstruction work was contracted to Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation and Karnataka Land Army Corporation. The deadline for completion was fixed as March 2012. However, the work was delayed when the ground was found to be unstable and had to be reinforced. Yusuf Arakkal
Yusuf Arakkal (1945 – 2016) was an Indian artist. Life Arakkal was born in Chavakkad, Kerala. Both his parents died when he was young. Leaving the comforts of his house behind, he left for Bangalore, lonely but with a passion to become a painter. The hardships that he faced at Bangalore honed the artist in him and sharpened his sensibility. He took a diploma in painting from '' Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat'' (KCP), Bangalore and later specialized in graphic print making from National Academy community studios, Garhi, Delhi. Arakkal received the prestigious ''Lorenzo De Medici Gold Medal'', at Florence Internazionale Biennale, in Florence, Italy for his work ''Bacon’s Man with the Child and Priest''.
