Randpark Golf Club is a golf club in South Africa. Background The club was founded 1940. It is located in Randpark, South Africa, a suburb of Johannesburg. The club has three courses: Bushwillow, Firethorn, and Creek 9. Bushwillow, then named Windsor 12, was completed in 1946. It was significantly renovated in 1952 by Bob Grimsdell. Firethorn was designed by Sid Brews. It opened in 1971. Firethorn is known to be the hardest course on the property. Cobie Legrange worked as Randpark's club professional for many years. Randpark is a suburb of the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is located in the northern suburbs of the City of Johannesburg. Randpark is a well established area that is quiet and forms part of an area with road closure for security reasons. It is bordered by several other suburbs including Windsor Glen, Robin Hills, Malanshof and Fontainebleau. It is located in the north-west of Johannesburg within the boundary of the N1 highway. Sid Brews
Sydney Francis Brews (29 May 1899 – 1972) was a South African professional golfer. Brews was born in Blackheath, London, England. He turned pro in 1914 and emigrated to South Africa in 1924. He won the South African Open title a total of eight times between 1925 and 1952, when he became the tournament's oldest-ever champion aged 53. He also won the South African PGA Championship six times. His brother Jock Brews won the South African Open four times. He enjoyed considerable success outside of South Africa. In 1934, probably his finest year, he finished second in the British Open to Henry Cotton, and won both the French Open and Dutch Open championships. He would retain both of those titles in 1935. Cobie Legrange
Cobie Legrange (born 1942) is a South African professional golfer. He was one of the best South African golfers of the 1960s and reached a peak ranking of #15 in the world. Professional career Legrange was born in Boksburg, South Africa. He played on the British circuit in 1962 but performed poorly. In April 1963, he returned to South Africa to improve his play. He maintained a very diligent practice schedule, practicing 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for the remainder of the year. The results immediately paid off. In the summer of 1964 he finished second in the French Open to Argentine legend Roberto De Vicenzo, taking him to a playoff. On 28 June 1964 he won the Dunlop Masters at Royal Birkdale Golf Club by one stroke. He built a 4-shot lead on the front nine but nearly lost it all. The Joburg Open is a men's professional golf tournament that is held in Johannesburg, South Africa. It is an event on the Southern Africa-based Sunshine Tour and co-sanctioned by the European Tour, which attracts a larger prize fund and stronger fields. Sunshine Tour
The Sunshine Tour is a men's professional golf tour based in Southern and East Africa. For much of its early history it was known either as the South African Tour or Sunshine Circuit; through sponsorship deals, it has also been known as the Vodacom Tour and the FNB Tour. For the 2000–01 season the tour rebranded itself as the ''Sunshine Tour'' in an attempt to broaden its appeal. A large majority of the tour events are still staged in South Africa. The South African Open is one of the oldest national open golf championships in the world, having first been played in 1903, and is one of the principal tournaments on the Southern-Africa-based Sunshine Tour. Since 1997 it has also been co-sanctioned by the European Tour.
