Châteauneuf-de-Randon
Châteauneuf-de-Randon (; oc, Chastèlnòu de Randon) is a village and commune in the Lozère department in southern France. History The battle of Châteauneuf-de-Randon was fought in 1380 between the English and the French. In 1380 the fortress of Châteauneuf-de-Randon was besieged by the French, under the command of Bertrand du Guesclin, and the fortress was defended by an English garrison under De Ros. The town surrendered on the 4th of July. The siege, however, was fatal to the French commander. Geography The Chapeauroux forms part of the commune's western border, flows eastward through the middle of the commune, then forms part of its eastern border. Frederick Randon Senior
Frederick Randon (24 June 1845 – 17 February 1883) was an English first-class cricketer. Randon was born at Stapleford in June 1845. He made his debut in first-class cricket for the Marylebone Cricket Club against the North at Lord's in 1874. He played first-class cricket until 1876, making fifteen appearances, including playing for the Players of the North in 1874 and the North in 1875. In fifteen first-class appearances, he scored 104 runs with a high score of 23 not out. With his right-arm roundarm fast bowling, he took 37 wickets at an average of 17.70, with best figures of 6 for 54. One of two five-wicket hauls he took, these figures came for the Marylebone Cricket Club against Nottinghamshire in 1874. Besides playing, Randon worked as coach at some of the top public schools, including Eton College and Wellington College. Frederick Randon Junior
Frederick John Randon (18 November 1873 – 15 January 1949) was an English cricketer. Randon was a left-handed batsman who bowled left-arm medium pace. He was born at Hathern, Leicestershire. Randon made his debut for Leicestershire in their inaugural first-class match against Essex in 1894 at the County Ground, Essex. He made two further first-class appearances in 1894 against Surrey and Lancashire. In his three matches, he took 4 wickets at an average of 32.00, with best figures of 3/20. With the bat, he scored 5 runs at a batting average of 1.66. He died at the village of his birth on 15 January 1949. His father Frederick Randon senior also played first-class cricket. Gabriel Randon
Jehan Rictus (21 September 1867 – 6 November 1933) was a French poet. He was born Gabriel Randon in Boulogne-sur-Mer. In the 1900s, he legally changed his name to his mother's name Randon de Saint-Amand. After an unhappy childhood and poor beginnings in the life, Gabriel Randon took the pseudonym of Jehan Rictus. He found success in 1895 with poems that he interpreted in Parisian cabarets. These poems that Rictus interpreted, called ''Soliloques du Pauvre'' (Soliloquies of the Poor), were published in 1897. Jacques Louis César Alexandre Randon, 1st Count Randon (25 March 1795 – 16 January 1871) was a French military and political leader, also Marshal of France and governor of Algeria.
