Le Trio Joubran
Le Trio Joubran ( ar, الثلاثي جبران) is an oud trio playing traditional Palestinian music. The trio consists of the brothers Samir, Wissam, and Adnan Joubran, originally from the city of Nazareth, now dividing their time between Nazareth, Ramallah and Paris. The Joubran brothers come from a well-known family with a rich artistic heritage. Their mother, Ibtisam Hanna Joubran, sang the Muwashahat (poems that originated in Arab Spain) while their father, Hatem, is among the most renowned stringed-instrument makers in Palestine and in the Arab world. They are the first oud trio. Formation Samir Joubran, the eldest brother, began a successful music career in 1996, nearly a decade before the formation of the Joubran Trio. Samir released two acclaimed albums Taqaseem in 1996, followed by Sou'fahm in 2001. For his third album, Samir invited his younger brother, Wissam, to accompany him in duets. Wissam Joubran
Hatem Joubran ( ar, وسام جبران) (born February 19, 1983) is a Palestinian composer, oud (an Arabic lute) virtuoso, and master lute maker. He is a member of the group Le Trio Joubran. Biography Joubran was born in Nazareth, Israel. The third child of oud maker Hatem Joubran, and the brother of oud players Samir Joubran and Adnan Joubran. He is considered as the fourth generation of the family Joubran for making string instruments. Joubran showed musical talent early in his life, at five, his fingers were already sensitive to the touch of wood, and at six, he made his first instrument by his own. Joubran start learning the violin, and moved to the oud by the age of seven. The dexterity of Joubran’s fingers, as well as his sense of music leads him to assist his father in crafting his ouds. Sheer Sound is a South African independent record label formed in 1994 by Damon Forbes. History Sheer Sound was formed in November 1994, shortly after South Africa's first democratic elections. Harmonia Mundi
Harmonia Mundi is an independent record label which specializes in classical music, jazz, and world music (on the World Village label). It was founded in France in 1958 and is now a subsidiary of PIAS Entertainment Group. Its Latin name ''harmonia mundi'' translates as "harmony of the world". History In the 1950s, two music entrepreneurs, Frenchman Bernard Coutaz and German Rudolf Ruby, met by chance on a train journey and started a friendship based on their musical interests. They formed a business relationship and set up two classical music record labels, both named ''Harmonia Mundi ''.
