Randall Burks
Randall James Burks (born August 22, 1953) is a former NFL wide receiver who played for the Chicago Bears. Burks was known for his speed, described as "electrifying". Athletic career Born in Garvin, Oklahoma, Burks first gained notice in high school, in Idabel. He set the state record for the indoor 60-yard dash, with a time of 6.1 seconds, and in 1970 and 1971 he was Oklahoma state champion for the 100-yard dash. He first attended Oklahoma State University, but later transferred to the much smaller Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he was twice named All Conference, and in his senior year he was Oklahoma Intercollegiate Conference and NAIA District-9 Player of the Year. That same year, he was named All-American as well as being voted most outstanding player for Southeastern Oklahoma State. The All-America designation is an annual honor bestowed upon an amateur sports person from the United States who is considered to be one of the best amateurs in their sport. Individuals receiving this distinction are typically added to an All-America team for their sport. Some sports will have multiple All-America teams and will list the honorees as members of a first team, second team, or third team. As such, All-America teams are composed of outstanding US amateur players. Individuals falling short of qualifying for the honor may receive All-America honorable mention. The designation is typically used at the collegiate level although, beginning in 1957, high school- athletes in football began being honored with All-America status, which then carried-over to other sports like basketball and cross-country running. The Seattle Seahawks are a professional American football team based in Seattle. 1976 NFL Draft
The 1976 National Football League draft was an annual player selection meeting held April 8–9, 1976, at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City, New York. The draft lasted 17 rounds, with the expansion Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks making the first two selections. The Buccaneers were awarded the first overall pick of the draft after winning a draw over the Seahawks, and used that pick to select defensive tackle Lee Roy Selmon. The expansion teams were also given a pair of extra picks at the end of each of rounds 2-5. The 1976 draft was the final NFL draft to last seventeen rounds; it was reduced to twelve rounds in 1977, and it was the first draft to officially have the infamous unofficial award, "Mr. Irrelevant", for the final player selected. A touchdown (abbreviated as TD) is a scoring play in gridiron football. Whether running, passing, returning a kickoff or punt, or recovering a turnover, a team scores a touchdown by advancing the ball into the opponent's end zone.
