Randal Woollatt
Randal James Woollatt (19 July 1909 – 9 April 1984) was an English cricketer. Woollatt was a right-handed batsman. He was born at Claygate, Surrey, and was educated at Cheltenham College. Woollatt made his debut for the Surrey Second XI in the 1929 Minor Counties Championship against Devon. From 1929 to 1932, Woollatt made 22 appearances for the team in the Minor Counties Championship, the last of which came against the Kent Second XI. In 1930, he made his only appearance in first-class cricket for a combined Minor Counties team against Lancashire at Old Trafford. Batting first, the Minor Counties made 216 all out, with Woollatt making 13 runs before he was dismissed by Len Hopwood. Lancashire were then dismissed for 188 in their first-innings, to which the Minor Counties responded in to in their second-innings by reaching 9 without loss, before the match was declared a draw, with no play possible on the final day. Claygate
Claygate is an affluent suburban village in Surrey, England, southwest of central London. It is the only civil parish in the borough of Elmbridge. Surrounded by green belt, it lies inside the Greater London Built-up Area. Claygate was once in the main manor of Thames Ditton, but is now administered from Esher. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Len Hopwood
John Leonard Hopwood (30 October 1903 – 15 June 1985) was a Lancashire cricketer who was the focal point of the county's Championship win in 1934. During this period he was an effective if unattractive all-rounder and played twice for England, though he failed to make any impact in either game with bat or ball. Biography Born 30 October 1903, Newton, Hyde, Cheshire, Hopwood began playing for Lancashire in the 1920s as a solid right-hand batsman, but after playing fairly often for the first team in 1924 and 1925 he dropped out until 1928. In that year, however, he helped the team to their finest record ever in the County Championship with a number of surprising performances as an accurate left arm spinner, the best of which was nine for 74 against Middlesex, five for 71 against Derbyshire and six for 20 against Wales. Lancashire County Cricket Club represents the historic county of Lancashire in English cricket. The club has held first-class status since it was founded in 1864. Lancashire's home is Old Trafford Cricket Ground, although the team also play matches at other grounds around the county.
