Rancho Texicano
''Rancho Texicano: The Very Best of ZZ Top'' is a greatest hits album by the rock band ZZ Top. It was released in 2004 on Rhino Entertainment. The title is a portmanteau of "texan" and "mexicano", meaning "Tex-mex Ranch". The 2-CD compilation is essentially a pared-down version of the 4-CD box set ''Chrome, Smoke & BBQ'', released the previous year. All songs are original mixes that have been digitally remastered. ZZ Top
ZZ Top is an American rock band formed in 1969 in Houston, Texas. For 51 years, they comprised vocalist-guitarist Billy Gibbons, drummer Frank Beard and vocalist-bassist Dusty Hill, until Hill's death in 2021. ZZ Top developed a signature sound based on Gibbons' blues guitar style and Hill and Beard's rhythm section. They are popular for their live performances, sly and humorous lyrics, and the matching appearances of Gibbons and Hill, who wore sunglasses, hats and long beards. ZZ Top formed after the demise of Moving Sidewalks, Gibbons' previous band, in 1969. Within a year, they signed with London Records and released ''ZZ Top's First Album'' (1971). Kenny Cordray
Kenneth Cordray (July 21, 1954 – May 21, 2017) was an American instrumental guitarist and songwriter, who shared the stage with notable musicians and performers such as John Mayall, John Lee Hooker and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. Cordray became the lead guitarist for The Children under the ATCO label and later on ODE records produced by Lou Adler. He co-wrote the song "Francine", which peaked at 69 on the Billboard Hot 100, with Steve Perron for ZZ Top's album ''Rio Grande Mud''. Cordray performed and wrote music with Jaco Pastorius and played in Wayne Cochran and the C.C. Rider band at Pastorius' request. While playing with the C.C. Riders, Cordray backed up Jerry Lee Lewis on an episode of the ''Midnight Special'' and in concert. He moved to New Orleans to play with the former C.C. ''El Loco'' is the seventh studio album by the American rock band ZZ Top, released in 1981. The title means "The Madman" in Spanish. The band's guitarist/singer Billy Gibbons has said that the recording of this album was the first time the three members of the band were isolated from one another in the studio, rather than recording simultaneously in the same room. It also foreshadowed ZZ Top's synthesizer-driven direction later in the decade, with early experimentations in synthesizer backing on certain tracks. "Tube Snake Boogie" is a song by American rock band ZZ Top from their 1981 album '' El Loco''. It was released as a single the same year and reached No. 4 on the ''Billboard'' Mainstream Rock chart. While the lyrics seem to imply sexual innuendo or double entendre, in the liner notes for the band's 1992 '' Greatest Hits'' album, it is explained that "'tube snake' is gnarly lingo for a surfboard, or 'boogie board.' Either way, it's good clean fun." However, this claim of surfing belies the lyrical content clearly indicating that the 'boogieing' is done at night. "Cheap Sunglasses" is a 1979 single by ZZ Top from their 1979 album '' Degüello''. The song captures many of the sounds and beats for which ZZ Top is famous. It is also featured on the greatest hits collections '' ZZ Top's Greatest Hits'', '' Chrome, Smoke & BBQ'', and ''Rancho Texicano''. In addition, a live version of the song appears on ''Chrome, Smoke & BBQ'' and ''Rancho Texicano''. ''Degüello'' is the sixth studio album by the American rock band ZZ Top, released in November 1979. It was the first ZZ Top release on Warner Bros. Records and eventually went platinum. It was produced by Bill Ham, recorded and mixed by Terry Manning, and mastered by Bob Ludwig. Returning from a two-year hiatus, the band began to showcase the influence they have collected during the time away; Gibbons' time in Europe introduced him to punk music, the influences of which seeped into the creation of the album. The band also consciously tried experimenting with technology: Gibbons saw an episode of ''The Phil Donahue Show'' where a person's identity was protected using silhouette and a pitch shifter; liking the sound, he asked engineer Manning to call the show and find out what the effects unit was. David Porter (born November 21, 1941) is an American record producer, songwriter, singer, entrepreneur and philanthropist. Porter was a 2005 inductee into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, with catalog sales exceeding 400 million units. In 2015, ''Rolling Stone'' listed him among the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time. Isaac Lee Hayes Jr. (August 20, 1942 – August 10, 2008) was an American singer, actor, songwriter, and composer. The title is a Caddo language word meaning "friends", which is the origin of the name of the band's home state, Texas. "Tush" is a song by American blues rock band ZZ Top and was the only single from their fourth album ''Fandango!''. The song was named the 67th best hard rock song of all time by VH1. Composition The song is a twelve-bar blues in the key of G in standard tuning. Bassist Dusty Hill has said the song was written at a sound check in about ten minutes. ''Fandango!'' is the fourth album by the American rock band ZZ Top, released in 1975. The album's first side consists of selections from live shows, with the second side being new studio recordings. A remastered and expanded edition of this album was released on February 28, 2006. Album title Fandango, from which the album gets its name, is a type of dance similar to flamenco.
