Ramones Mania
''Ramones Mania'' is the first greatest hits album by the American punk rock band the Ramones. It was released on May 31, 1988 through Sire Records and consists of 30 Ramones songs, including some single versions ("Sheena Is a Punk Rocker," " Needles & Pins" and "Howling at the Moon"), a single B-side ("Indian Giver") and one previously unreleased take (the film version of "Rock 'n' Roll High School"). The album contains a booklet with a short history of the Ramones, including the release dates of all their albums. Their best-selling album, the compilation was their only album certified Gold in the United States, until their debut album went Gold in 2014. ''Ramones Mania'' was re-released on multi-colored vinyl for Record Store Day in 2010. A sequel was released in Japan in 2000. Ramones
The Ramones were an American punk rock band that formed in the New York City neighborhood of Forest Hills, Queens, in 1974. They are often cited as the first true punk rock group. Despite achieving a limited commercial appeal in the United States during their time together, the band saw more success in England and Brazil, and are today seen as highly influential. All of the band members adopted pseudonyms ending with the surname "Ramone", although none of them were biologically related; they were inspired by Paul McCartney, who would check into hotels as "Paul Ramon". The Ramones performed 2,263 concerts, touring virtually nonstop for 22 years. In 1996, after a tour with the Lollapalooza music festival, they played a farewell concert in Los Angeles and disbanded. Teenage Lobotomy
"Teenage Lobotomy" is a song by the American punk rock band Ramones. It was released on their 1977 album ''Rocket to Russia'', and became one of their most popular songs. The song's lyrics are about a teenager who had a lobotomy because of the brain damage caused by overexposure to DDT. The lyrics also outline how this procedure can cause serious consequences to the brain, with the line "Gonna get my Ph.D, I'm a teenage lobotomy." ''Road to Ruin'' is the fourth studio album by American punk rock band the Ramones, released on September 22, 1978, through Sire Records as LP record, 8 track cartridge & audio cassette. It was the first Ramones album to feature new drummer Marky Ramone, who replaced Tommy Ramone. Tommy left the band due to low sales of previous albums as well as stress he experienced while touring; however, he stayed with the band to produce the album (credited as T. Erdelyi) with Ed Stasium. The artwork's concept was designed by Ramones fan Gus MacDonald and later modified by John Holmstrom to include Marky instead of Tommy. The album includes the well-known track "I Wanna Be Sedated". The album incorporated musical elements that were less prominent in punk rock, such as heavy metal-influenced guitar solos and 1960s-style ballads. Jeffrey Ross Hyman (May 19, 1951 – April 15, 2001), known professionally as Joey Ramone, was an American musician, best known as the lead singer and a founding member of the punk rock band Ramones. "I Wanna Be Sedated" is a song by American punk rock band Ramones, originally released on the band's fourth studio album, '' Road to Ruin'' (1978), in September 1978. The B-side of the UK single "She's the One" was released on September 21, 1978. The song was later released as a single in the Netherlands in 1979, then in the U.S. in 1980 by RSO Records from the ''Times Square'' soundtrack album. The album's track list is an exact match of the band's 1988 compilation album ''Ramones Mania'', which had been released by Sire Records. ''Ramones Mania 2'' is a greatest hits album by American punk band Ramones that serves as a sequel to the band's first compilation album, ''Ramones Mania''. It includes 25 Ramones songs, from the band's last three studio albums—''Mondo Bizarro'', ''Acid Eaters'' and ''¡Adios Amigos!''—and from the band's third live album, ''Greatest Hits Live'', all of which were released on Radioactive Records. "Rock 'n' Roll High School" is a song by American punk rock band Ramones, from the soundtrack album ''Rock 'n' Roll High School''. The single did not chart in the U.S. but peaked at number 67 on the UK Singles Chart. There are three versions of the song. The first was recorded in early 1979 by Ed Stasium and was intended for the ''Rock 'n' Roll High School'' soundtrack. "Indian Giver" is a song written by Bobby Bloom, Ritchie Cordell, and Bo Gentry. It was first recorded by 1910 Fruitgum Company for their 1969 album, ''Indian Giver''. The song went to #5 on The Billboard Hot 100 in 1969 and was on the charts for 13 weeks. Its B-Side, "Pow Wow", was actually a song called "Bring Back Howdy Doody" deliberately pressed backwards as a way of deterring radio stations from playing the B-Side, which was later recorded by another Buddah bubblegum music group produced by Jerry Kasenetz and Jeffry Katz called Flying Giraffe.
