Ramon Llull
Ramon Llull (; c. 1232 – c. 1315/16) was a philosopher, theologian, poet, missionary, and Christian apologist from the Kingdom of Majorca. He invented a philosophical system known as the ''Art'', conceived as a type of universal logic to prove the truth of Christian doctrine to interlocutors of all faiths and nationalities. The ''Art'' consists of a set of general principles and combinatorial operations. It is illustrated with diagrams. A prolific writer, he is also known for his literary works written in Catalan, which he composed to make his ''Art'' accessible to a wider audience. In addition to Catalan and Latin he also probably wrote in Arabic (although no texts in Arabic survive). His books were translated into Occitan, French, and Castilian during his lifetime. Maria Antònia Oliver Cabrer
Maria Antònia Oliver Cabrer (4 December 1946 – 10 February 2022) was a Spanish writer. Her work has been translated into German, English, Spanish, Galician, French, Portuguese, and Russian. She was honored with the Premi d'Honor de les Lletres Catalanes in 2016. Life Born in Manacor, Balearic Islands, Oliver was a resident of Barcelona from 1969. Oliver was known for her novels and short stories, and was also a Castilian and Catalan language translator. In the 1980s, Oliver joined a number of other Catalan-language writers to form the Ofèlia Dracs collective, looking to bring attention to, and broaden the output of deepening Catalan literature. Oliver's first work was published in 1970. While most of her work has been for adult readers, some is aimed at children and youth. Concepción García Campoy (28 October 1958 – 10 July 2013), also known as Concha García Campoy, was a Spanish radio and television journalist and personality. Career She started her professional career in 1979 as local anchor in Cadena COPE of a current affairs program called ''Antena Pública''. Later in 1983, she entered the News Service of Televisión Española for the Balearic islands. The Fundación Juan March is a foundation established in 1955 by Juan March, who was Spain's richest man. The foundation produces exhibitions as well as concert and lecture series. Jean Dausset
Jean-Baptiste-Gabriel-Joachim Dausset (19 October 1916 – 6 June 2009) was a French immunologist born in Toulouse, France. Dausset received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1980 along with Baruj Benacerraf and George Davis Snell for their discovery and characterisation of the genes making the major histocompatibility complex. Using the money from his Nobel Prize and a grant from the French Television, Dausset founded the Human Polymorphism Study Center ( CEPH) in 1984, which was later renamed the Foundation Jean Dausset-CEPH in his honour. He married Rose Mayoral in 1963, with whom he had two children, Henri and Irène. Jean Dausset died on June 6, 2009 in Majorca, Spain, at the age of 92. Antònia Vicens i Picornell (born 1941) is a Majorcan writer in the Catalan language. She is a recipient of the Premi Sant Jordi de novel·la prize and the Premi d'Honor de les Lletres Catalanes. Biography Antònia Vicens i Picornell was born in 1941 in Santanyí, Balearic Islands. Her first published book was a collection of short stories, ''Banc de fusta ''. Her novel, ''39º a l'ombra'', was awarded the Premi Sant Jordi de novel·la prize in 1967. In 1977, she joined the board of the Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana, serving as vice president for the Balearic Islands.
