Ramlösa () is a brand of carbonated mineral water from a source in Ramlösa Brunnspark in the southern part of Helsingborg, Sweden. Ramlösa goes back to the year 1707 when a mineral spa around the source was founded by Johan Jacob Döbelius. Ramlösa is very common in northern Europe and is considered high-quality mineral water. Ramlösa is also popular outside Scandinavia and the water is exported as far as the United States, Middle East, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Ramlösa is today a wholly owned subsidiary of the Danish brewery group Carlsberg. Swedish commercials for Ramlösa previously had voice-overs by actor Stellan Skarsgård. Ramlösa Hälsobrunn
Ramlösa hälsobrunn ('Ramlösa health well') () is a mineral spa located in Ramlösa in southeastern Helsingborg, Sweden, founded on 17 June 1707 by Johan Jacob Döbelius. The well was built around a chalybeate (iron-containing) spring, which Döbelius investigated in 1701, 1705 and 1706. During the 18th century, the reputation of the well increased and it was visited by guests from both Sweden and Denmark. Ramlösa well had its heyday in the early 19th century, when several members of the royal family and members of the nobility visited the facility regularly. In the late 1890s, a new and more mineral-rich alkaline spring was found, which was the start of bottled water in the country and the modern Ramlösa company. At the same time, the original activity of the mineral spa declined, and it was finally closed in 1973. Mineral spas are spa resorts developed around naturally occurring mineral springs. Like seaside resorts, they are mainly used recreationally although they also figured prominently in prescientific medicine. Origins Spas were used for millennia for their purported healing or healthful benefits to those wealthy enough or close enough to partake of their waters. This was called a mineral cure and gave let to such phrases as ''taking a cure'' and ''taking the waters''. There has always been a mixture of recreational and medicinal connotations involved, from rest and relaxation, stress relief, and convalescence to more specific notions such as humorism. These phrases are still sometimes used today as a euphemism for one trying to kick a drug dependency. Johan Jacob Döbelius
Johan Jacob Döbelius (29 March 1674, Rostock, Germany – 14 January 1743, Lund, Sweden), was a professor of medicine. Life After studies in Leiden, Döbelius became a Doctor of Medicine. He ended up in Gothenburg, where he practiced medicine for a while. He was appointed to the provincial physician of Bohuslän in 1697 and later on, in 1699 as the provincial physician of Skåne. Döbelius was appointed to physician to the military in Scania. In 1710 he was appointed to be professor of medicine at the University of Lund. He was the headmaster of the university in the years 1717, 1729 and 1742. He was the great-grandfather of Swedish military commander Georg Carl von Döbeln.
