Ramez Jorge Isa
Ramez Jorge (Ronchi) Isa (17 October 1917 – 17 March 2005) was a politician of the Netherlands Antilles of Lebanese descent. Isa served as Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles from February 1971 until April 1971, and from November 1972 until December 1973. Biography Isa was born in Curaçao on 17 October 1917. Boy Rozendal
Sylvius Gerard Marie "Boy" Rozendal (4 July 1928 – 10 June 2003) was an Curaçao politician and journalist. He served as Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles from 1971 until 1975, Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister from 1969 until 1971, and Minister Plenipotentiary of the Netherlands Antilles from 1971 until 1975. Biography Rozendal was born on 4 July 1928 in Curaçao. After graduating high school, he went to the Netherlands to study at the University of Amsterdam, and in 1957, obtained his doctorate in political and social sciences at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Genève, Switzerland. Rozendal returned to Curaçao and in 1958 joined the Democratic Party. In 1959, he was first elected to the island council of Curaçao. Cola Debrot
Nicolaas (Cola) Debrot (4 May 1902 – 3 December 1981) was a writer, lawyer, medical doctor and politician. Biography Debrot was born in Kralendijk, the son of a plantation owner. In 1904 he moved from Bonaire to Curaçao, and then when he was 14 he moved to the Netherlands to attend school. He went to secondary school, and later to Utrecht University in the Netherlands, studying law and later medicine, where he also started his literary career. His debut, ''Mijn zuster de negerin'' (1935) is his best known. In the late 1940s, he returned to the Antilles and lived on Curaçao, where he established the foundations of Dutch-Antillian literature. Debrot was also active as a politician. In 1952, Debrot became the Minister Plenipotentiary of the Netherlands Antilles and played a major role in reshaping the relationship between the Netherlands, the Antilles and Suriname. 1969 Curaçao Uprising
The 1969 Curaçao uprising (known as ''Trinta di Mei'', "Thirtieth of May", in Papiamentu, the local language) was a series of riots on the Caribbean island of Curaçao, then part of the Netherlands Antilles, a semi-independent country in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The uprising took place mainly on May 30, but continued into the night of May 31 June 1, 1969. The riots arose from a strike by workers in the oil industry. A protest rally during the strike turned violent, leading to widespread looting and destruction of buildings and vehicles in the central business district of Curaçao's capital, Willemstad. Several causes for the uprising have been cited. The island's economy, after decades of prosperity brought about by the oil industry, particularly a Shell refinery, was in decline and unemployment was rising. Ciro Domenico Kroon
Ciro Domenico Kroon (31 January 1916 – 9 June 2001) was an Curaçao politician and businessman. He served as Minister of Social and Economic Affairs from 1957 until 1968, and Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles from 1968 until 1969. The 1969 Curaçao uprising caused the collapse of his government. Biography Kroon was born on 31 January 1916 in Curaçao. After finishing high school, he worked in trade.
