Ramblers F.C. (Scotland)
Ramblers Football Club was a 19th-century football club based in Glasgow. History The club was founded in 1874. Its first recorded match was a 0–0 draw with Burnbank, and its first recorded goal and win came at Hamilton Academical F.C. the following month. The Ramblers entered the Scottish Cup for the first time in 1875–76. The club was drawn away to Northern F.C. and lost by 4 goals, plus one disputed goal, to nil. The club entered the competition three times in total, losing in the first round on every occasion; 6–0 (plus one disputed) at 3rd Lanarkshire Rifle Volunteers in 1876–77, and 1–0 at home to Stonefield F.C. in 1877–78, in a "hard but pleasant game". The last match advertised for the club was against Blythswood F.C. in December 1877, but there is no report that the match took place. Crosshill is an area of Glasgow, Scotland. It is situated south of the River Clyde. It was an independent police burgh from 1871 to 1891 before being annexed by the City of Glasgow. History Formerly part of the County of Renfrew, Crosshill had a brief existence as an independent police burgh from 1871 until it was absorbed by Glasgow in 1891. Crosshill and Govanhill to its north form a continuous built-up area and due to sharing a postcode and amenities, as well as a similar design style in some buildings, they are often considered to be the same district (however historically this was not the case – Govanhill was in the County of Lanark). 1877–78 Scottish Cup
The 1877–78 Scottish Cup – officially the Scottish Football Association Challenge Cup – was the fifth season of Scotland's most prestigious football knockout competition. For the first time, over 100 teams took part in the competition which began with the first round on 22 September 1877. The cup was won by Vale of Leven for a second time after they defeated Glasgow club 3rd Lanark RV 1–0 in the final on 30 March 1878. Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian were drawn to face each other in the first round in what would be the first competitive Edinburgh derby. Hibernian won 2–1 after a replay.
