Ralph Younger
Major-General Ralph Younger (12 July 1904 – 2 August 1985) was a British Army officer. Military career Younger was commissioned into the 7th Queen's Own Hussars in 1925. He served as commanding officer of the 3rd Carabiniers in Burma in 1942 during the Second World War. Younger was appointed second in command of the 255th Indian Tank Brigade in August 1944, then promoted to command the brigade in May 1945, commanding it until November. After the war he became commander of 30th Independent Armoured Brigade in March 1949, commander of 7th Armoured Brigade in December 1950 and Commandant of the Royal Armoured Corps Centre at Bovington Camp in November 1953. His last appointment was as General Officer Commanding 49th (West Riding) Armoured Division in December 1954 before retiring in March 1958. Royal Armoured Corps Centre
Bovington Camp () is a British Army military base in Dorset, England. Together with Lulworth Camp it forms part of Bovington Garrison. The garrison is home to The Armour Centre and contains two barracks complexes and two forest and heathland training areas that support Phase Two training for soldiers of the Royal Armoured Corps and trade training for the Household Cavalry Regiment as well as other armoured units. It also houses The Tank Museum on its property. The Most Honourable Order of the Bath is a British order of chivalry founded by George I on 18 May 1725. The name derives from the elaborate medieval ceremony for appointing a knight, which involved bathing (as a symbol of purification) as one of its elements. The knights so created were known as "Knights of the Bath". George I "erected the Knights of the Bath into a regular Military Order". Richard Elton Goodwin
Lieutenant General Sir Richard Elton Goodwin, (17 August 1908 – 28 October 1986) was a senior British Army officer. He served in the Second World War as Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion, Suffolk Regiment during the campaign in Northwest Europe from June 1944 until May 1945, and later reached high office in the 1960s. Military career Goodwin joined the British Army was commissioned as a second lieutenant into the Suffolk Regiment in 1928. He was promoted to lieutenant on 30 August 1931. He served in India and became aide-de-camp to the Governor of Madras in 1935. Goodwin served in the Second World War. He was second-in-command of the 9th Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment from 1942, and then Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion, Suffolk Regiment from 1943. Major-General Reginald Peregrine Harding, (3 July 1905 – 27 December 1981) was a British Army officer. Military career After graduating from the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Harding was commissioned into the 5th/6th Dragoons on 29 January 1925. He was appointed a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order in the 1940 Birthday Honours for his services in the Second World War. After the war, in October 1946, he became commander of 22nd Armoured Brigade which was re-designated 7th Armoured Brigade in January 1947; he then became Commandant of the Royal Armoured Corps Centre at Bovington Camp in August 1949. He went on to be General Officer Commanding 49th (West Riding) Armoured Division in December 1951 and General Officer Commanding East Anglian District in May 1955 before retiring in June 1958. Royal Scots Dragoon Guards
The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys) is a cavalry regiment of the British Army, and the senior Scottish regiment. The regiment, through the Royal Scots Greys, is the oldest surviving Cavalry Regiment of the Line in the British Army.
