Ralph James Scott
Ralph James Scott (October 15, 1905 – August 5, 1983) was a Democratic U.S. Representative from North Carolina between 1957 and 1967. Biography Born near Pinnacle, North Carolina in Surry County, Scott attended public schools and then Wake Forest University, where he studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1930 and practiced in Danbury, North Carolina. Scott was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 1936, serving for one term, and was a delegate to state Democratic Party conventions from 1936 to 1968. Surry County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 71,359. Its county seat is Dobson, and its largest city is Mount Airy. Surry county comprises the Mount Airy, NC Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Greensboro-Winston-Salem- High Point, NC Combined Statistical Area. History The county was formed in 1771 from Rowan County as part of the British Province of North Carolina. North Carolina's 5th congressional district covers the central western portion of North Carolina from the Appalachian Mountains to the Metrolina western suburbs. the district borders Tennessee, Virginia and South Carolina While the bulk of its territory is in the mountains it stretches south into the Piedmont where its largest city, Gastonia, can be found. Wake Forest University
Wake Forest University is a private research university in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Founded in 1834, the university received its name from its original location in Wake Forest, north of Raleigh, North Carolina. Danbury is a city located in Danbury Township, Stokes County, North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the city had a total population of 142. It is the county seat of Stokes County. Danbury is located on NC 8/ 89 approximately north of Winston-Salem and is the "Gateway to Hanging Rock".
