Ralph Evans (boxer)
Ralph Evans (born 20 December 1953) is a Welsh former boxer. He represented Great Britain at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, reaching the semi-final before losing to György Gedó. He received the bronze medal for the event, becoming the first Welsh boxer to win an Olympic medal. His performance was also the best finish by a Welsh boxer at an Olympic games for 40 years until it was surpassed in 2012. He chose to retire after the tournament, becoming a coach for his brother Wayne during his professional boxing career. Early life Ralph Evans was one of six children born in Tonypandy, South Wales, to parents Gwynfor and Jean Evans (née Powell). The family lived in Rosehill Terrace in Gilfach Goch until Evans was seven before moving to Waterlooville, Hampshire, near Portsmouth. Ralph Evans (cricketer)
Ralph du Boulay Evans (1 October 1891 – 27 July 1929) was an English first-class cricketer and geologist. The son of the cricketer Alfred Evans, he was born in October 1891 at Newtown, Hampshire. He was educated at Winchester College, where he played for the college cricket team. From there he matriculated in 1910 to Pembroke College, Cambridge. During the summer break of his second year at Cambridge, Evans made a single appearance for Hampshire against Essex at Leyton in the 1912 County Championship. The following season, he made three first-class appearances for Cambridge University Cricket Club against H. D. G. Leveson Gower's XI, the Marylebone Cricket Club, and L. G. Robinson's XI; in the latter fixture, he scored his only first-class half century, a score of 70. He played in his fifth and final first-class match in 1914, appearing for the Free Foresters ''against'' Cambridge University. Denzil Ralph Evans (9 October 1915 – 20 February 1996) was an English association footballer. Born in Hungerford, Evans' first club was Yeovil & Petters United. He joined Football League club Bury on amateur terms in 1934, turning professional at the end of the 1934–35 season. After spending the 1936–37 season at Halifax Town, Evans joined Watford, where he would remain for the rest of his career. Ralph Evans (violinist)
Ralph Evans (born 1953) is an American violinist, best known as first violinist of the Fine Arts Quartet. The son of Jewish refugees from Russia and Germany, Evans began his musical studies at the age of five at the Vienna Academy of Music. He graduated cum laude from Yale University, where he studied violin with Broadus Erle. He subsequently received a doctorate from Yale in 1980. As recipient of a Fulbright Scholar Award, he continued his studies in Europe with Szymon Goldberg and Nathan Milstein. After winning the top prize in a number of major American competitions, including the 1978 Concert Artists Guild Competition in New York and the 1981 National Federation of Music Clubs National Young Artist Competition, he concertized as a soloist throughout North America and Europe.
