Ralph Earle Jr.
Ralph Earle Jr. (January 17, 1908 – May 23, 1995) was an American Bible, biblical scholar. Early life and education He was born in Dighton, Massachusetts. Earle completed his undergraduate work and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Nazarene College before earning his Master's degree from Boston University. He completed Bachelor of Divinity, B.D. and Doctor of Theology, Th.D. programs at Gordon Divinity School before pursuing postdoctoral studies at Edinburgh University in Scotland, Episcopal Theological School, and Harvard University. He also held an honorary D.D. from Eastern Nazarene. Career He authored and edited many scholarly articles and books, including several List of Biblical commentaries, Bible commentaries. He served as a pastor in Woonsocket, Rhode Island and Everett, Massachusetts while on faculty (university), faculty at alma mater Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts, from 1933 to 1945. Everett is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States, directly north of Boston, bordering the neighborhood of Charlestown. The population was 49,075 at the time of the 2020 United States Census. Everett was the last city in the United States to have a bicameral legislature, which was composed of a seven-member Board of Aldermen and an eighteen-member Common Council. The Evangelical Theological Society (ETS) is a professional society of Biblical scholars, educators, pastors, and students "devoted to the inerrancy and inspiration of the Scriptures and the gospel of Jesus Christ" and "dedicated to the oral exchange and written expression of theological thought and research." The New International Version (NIV) is an English translation of the Bible first published in 1978 by Biblica (formerly the International Bible Society). The ''NIV'' was created as a modern translation, by Bible scholars using the earliest and highest quality source manuscripts available, into broadly understood modern English. A team of 15 biblical scholars, representing a variety of evangelical denominations, worked from the oldest copies of reliable texts, variously written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. Each section was subjected to multiple translations and revisions, and those assessed in detail to produce the best option. Nazarene Theological Seminary (NTS) is a Nazarene seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. The seminary was established by the Eleventh General Assembly in June 1944 and started its first school year in 1945 with 61 students. It moved to its current location in 1950.
