Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool
The Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool is an Aquatic sports, aquatics venue located on the campus of Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. The pool was constructed in 1975 and dedicated the following year to Raleigh Neal Runnels, the son of Pepperdine Chancellor Dr. Charles Runnels, who died of cancer at 17. The pool hosted the Water polo at the 1984 Summer Olympics, water polo competitions for the 1984 Summer Olympics in neighboring Los Angeles. Pepperdine Waves
The Pepperdine Waves are the athletics teams of Pepperdine University, located outside the city of Malibu, California. They compete at the Division I level of the NCAA. The school is a member of the West Coast Conference for the majority of its programs. Pepperdine University was recently ranked by the Sears Cup as having the most successful athletic program for non-football Division I schools (Stanford was ranked the most successful Division I athletic program with football). The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the Rose Bowl, two venues previously used for the 1932 Summer Olympics, were used for the 1984 Games.
