Rakovica ( sr-cyr, Раковица, ) is a municipality of the city of Belgrade. According to the 2011 census results, the municipality has 108,641 inhabitants. The municipality of Rakovica is located south of downtown Belgrade. It is bordered by the municipalities of Savski Venac on the north, Voždovac on the west and Čukarica on the east and south. History The first settlement on the territory of present-day Rakovica was mentioned in the Ottoman 1560 population census as a village called ''Vlaha''. Rakovica is a village and a municipality in south-central Croatia, in the region of Kordun south of Karlovac and Slunj, and north of the Plitvice Lakes National Park, Plitvice Lakes. Racovița (''Racovița-Olt'' until 1931; german: Rakowitza or ''Rakevets''; hu, Oltrákovica or colloquially ''Rákovica'') is a commune in Sibiu County, Transylvania, Romania. It has a population of 2,884 inhabitants (2002 census) and is composed of two villages, Racovița and Sebeșu de Sus (''Oltfelsősebes''). Racovița ( hu, Rakovica; german: Rikaß or ''Rakowitz'') is a commune in Timiș County, Romania. It is composed of six villages: Căpăt, Drăgoiești, Ficătar, Hitiaș, Racovița (commune seat) and Sârbova. Name History The first recorded mention of Racovița dates from 1447. In the Middle Ages it was called ''Rakovicza'' and belonged to Temesdoboz estates. After the expulsion of the Turks from Banat, it was inhabited by Romanians and became the property of the Aerarium. In the chamber records from 1717 it appears mentioned with 40 houses, belonging to Nagykövéres estates. Demographics Racovița had a population of 3,168 inhabitants at the 2011 census, down 4% from the 2002 census. Selo Rakovica () is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Voždovac and should not be confused with the neighborhood of Rakovica in the municipality of the same name.
