Rakovica (Belgrade)
Rakovica ( sr-cyr, Раковица, ) is a municipality of the city of Belgrade. According to the 2011 census results, the municipality has 108,641 inhabitants. The municipality of Rakovica is located south of downtown Belgrade. It is bordered by the municipalities of Savski Venac on the north, Voždovac on the west and Čukarica on the east and south. Its neighborhood of Resnik marks the southernmost point of the Belgrade City Proper (''uža teritorija grada''). History The first settlement on the territory of present-day Rakovica was mentioned in the Ottoman 1560 population census as a village called ''Vlaha''. Tradition has it that the place got its name after the crayfish (Serbian: ''rak'', ''rakovica''), which allegedly inhabited the Rakovički potok which streamed through the village. Subdivisions Of Belgrade
Serbia's capital city of Belgrade is divided into 17 municipalities. Most of the municipalities are situated on the southern side of the Danube and Sava rivers, in the Šumadija region. Three municipalities (Zemun, Novi Beograd, and Surčin) are on the northern bank of the Sava, in the Syrmia region, and the municipality of Palilula, spanning the Danube, is in both the Šumadija and Banat regions. Topčiderka
Topčiderska River ( sr, Топчидерска река / ''Topčiderska reka'', "Topčider River"), or colloquially Topčiderka ( sr-cyr, Топчидерка), or Topčiderski Creek ( sr, Топчидерски поток / ''Topčiderski potok'', "Topčider Creek"), is a river in north-central Serbia, a 30 km-long right tributary to the Sava river to which it flows in the urban section of Belgrade. Petlovo Brdo
Petlovo Brdo or colloquially among the local population Pevac ( sr-cyr, Петлово Брдо or Певац) is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Rakovica. Location Petlovo Brdo is located in the central part of the municipality, on the eastern slopes of the 205 meters high hill of the same name (meaning "Rooster Hill"). The neighborhood developed on the crossing of two major suburban roads of Belgrade, Ibar Highway and ''Kružni put''. Selo Rakovica
Selo Rakovica () is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Voždovac and should not be confused with the neighborhood of Rakovica in the municipality of the same name. Location Selo Rakovica is located in the central part of the municipality, in the valley of the creeks of Rakovički potok and ''Milošev potok'', some 10 kilometers south-east of downtown Belgrade. Once a small village distant from downtown, Selo Rakovica today grew into one continuous built-up area with the rest of the city, bordering the neighborhoods of Jajinci on the north and Pinosava on the south. Skojevsko Naselje ( Serbian Cyrillic: Скојевско Насеље) is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Rakovica. Location Skojevsko Naselje is located in the north-western part of the municipality, on the border of the municipality of Čukarica. It is bordered by the neighborhoods of Rakovica (on the east and south), Cerak Vinogradi (on the west) and Košutnjak and Filmski Grad (on the north). Vidikovac
Vidikovac ( sr-cyr, Видиковац) is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Rakovica. Location Vidikovac is located on the top of the hill of the same name, in the eastern part of the municipality on the border of the municipality of Čukarica, along the road of ''Ibarska magistrala''. It is bordered by the neighbourhoods of Rakovica to the west, Kneževac to the south, Labudovo Brdo further to the south and Cerak Vinogradi to the north. Kneževac
Κneževac ( Serbian Cyrillic: Кнежевац) is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Rakovica. Location Κneževac is located in the central part of the municipality. It developed as a village on the northern slopes of the Straževica hill, between the mouth of the ''Zmajevac'' brook into the Rakovički potok and its own confluence into the Topčiderka river. Miljakovac
Miljakovac ( sr, Миљаковац), () is an urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is located in Belgrade's municipality of Rakovica. Location Miljakovac is located on the northern outskirts of the Miljakovac Forest (''Miljakovačka šuma''), on the slopes of the Miljakovac hill, high, to the south. It is bordered by the neighborhoods of Kanarevo Brdo on the north and Rakovica on the west. Košutnjak
Košutnjak ( sr-cyr, Кошутњак, ) is a park-forest and urban neighborhood of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It is divided between in the municipalities of Čukarica (upper and central parts) and Rakovica (lower part). With the adjoining Topčider, it is colloquially styled "Belgrade's oxygen factory". The 1923 Belgrade's general plan, in which one of the main projects regarding the green areas was forestation of the area between Topčider and the city, envisioned a continuous green area Senjak – Topčidersko Brdo – Hajd Park – Topčider – Košutnjak, which was formed by the 1930s. This continual forested area makes the largest "green massif" in the immediate vicinity of Belgrade's urban tissue.
