Rajya Sabha
The Rajya Sabha, constitutionally the Council of States, is the upper house of the bicameral Parliament of India. , it has a maximum membership of 245, of which 233 are elected by the legislatures of the states and union territories using single transferable votes through open ballots, while the president can appoint 12 members for their contributions to art, literature, science, and social services. The potential seating capacity of the Rajya Sabha is 245 (233 elected, 12 appointed), according to article 80 of the Indian Constitution. Members sit for staggered terms lasting six years, with about a third of the 238 designates up for election every two years, in even-numbered years. Tamil Maanila Congress
The Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) (; TMC(M)) is an Indian regional political party in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is founded by the former Member of Parliament of the Republic of India G. K. Moopanar on 29 March 1996 as a breakaway faction from the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee. G.K Vaasan, the son of the founder G.K Moopanar, was chosen to lead the party in 2002 by the party's officials after the death of Moopanar. TMC was merged with Congress from 2002 to 2014. Valampuri John was a Tamil writer, orator and former Rajya Sabha member of India. He was born in Uvari village in Tirunelveli district, he started his career as a lawyer and activist of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Later, he joined the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). He also associated himself with the erstwhile Tamil Maanila Congress founded by the late G.K. Moopanar in 1996. Aladi Aruna (alias) V Arunachalam was an Indian politician. He was the Law Minister of Tamil Nadu. He was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly as a member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam from Alangulam constituency in the 1967, 1971 and 1996 elections. He was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's Parliament, from Tirunelveli constituency in the 1977 elections.
