Rajshree Ramasethu
Lieutenant General Rajshree Ramasethu is a former general officer of the Indian Army. She is the fifth woman in the Indian Armed Forces and third in the Indian Army to be promoted to a Three-star rank. She last served as the Director and Commandant of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. Early life and education Ramasethu joined the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune in 1979. Military career Ramasethu was commissioned in the Army Medical Corps in December 1983. She did her post-graduation, earning the Doctor of Medicine degree in Internal Medicine. She subsequently underwent super specialisation in Nephrology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Ramasethu has tenanted appointments of Consultant (medicine and Nephrology) at INHS Asvini, the naval hospital in Mumbai, and the Command Hospital Eastern Command in Kolkata. Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (India)
The Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) is the head of the Armed Forces Medical Services of the Indian Armed Forces. A three-star rank medical flag officer, the DGAFMS is equivalent to Army Commanders and the Defence Secretary. The DGAFMS is the advisor to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and the Minister of Defence on the medical requirements of the Armed Forces. Sainya Seva Medal
The Sainya Seva Medal is a medal of the Indian Armed Forces. The medal is awarded in recognition of non-operational service under conditions of hardship and severe climate in specified areas. History The Sainya Seva Medal was instituted on 26 January 1960 by the Government of India, with the approval of the President of India. Five other medals were instituted on the same day - the Vishisht Seva Medal series (Class I, Class II, Class III), the Videsh Seva Medal, Sena Medal, Nao Sena Medal and the Vayu Sena Medal. Criteria The Sainya Seva Medal is awarded for an aggregate of one year non-operational service in a defined geographic area. Special Service Medal (India)
The Special Service Medal is a military service medal of the Indian Armed Forces. The Special Service Medal is awarded under active service conditions for minor operations or operations of short duration. Clasps are awarded with the medal indicating the particular operation for which it is awarded. For subsequent operations where the clasp is approved, only the Clasp denoting the particular operation is awarded. The name of the operation's location is inscribed on the clasp's bar. It is an octagonal medal, made of copper-nickel alloy. It has a falcon inscribed on the front and the state emblem of India , state emblem with the name of the medal inscribed on the back. The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) (unofficially known as the Army Chief) is a statutory position in the Indian Army held usually by a four star general. As the highest ranking officer to serve solely in the Indian Army, the chief is the professional head of the ground forces and a key adviser to the Minister of Defence.
