Rajni Kothari
Rajni Kothari (16 August 1928 – 19 January 2015) was an Indian political scientist, political theorist, academic and writer. He was the founder of Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) in 1963, a social sciences and humanities research institute, based in Delhi and ''Lokayan'' (Dialogue of the People), started in 1980 as a forum for interaction between activists and intellectuals. He was also associated with Indian Council of Social Science Research, International Foundation for Development Alternatives, and People's Union for Civil Liberties. One of the great political thinkers of the 20th-century, amongst his noted works include ''Politics in India'' (1970), ''Caste in Indian Politics'' (1973), and ''Rethinking Democracy'' (2005). Rajni Kumar (born Nancie Joyce Margaret Jones; 5 March 1923 – 11 November 2022) was a British-born Indian educationist and the founder of Springdales Group of Schools. She was the recipient of the Padma Shri, the Government of India's fourth highest civilian award, in 2011. Rajni Ranjan Sahu (1934–) is a former member of parliament (MP) in India. He represented the state of Bihar in Rajya Sabha (upper chamber of parliament) for two six-year terms (1984–1996) as a member of the Congress party (I). Sahu was heavily influenced by Mahatma Gandhi from childhood as he had attended primary school in an Ashram in Champaran, which was founded by Gandhi.
