Rajendra Singh (coast Guard)
Rajendra Singh Bisht, PTM, TM (born 28 June 1959) is a retired Indian Coast Guard officer who served as the 22nd Director General of the Indian Coast Guard. He was the first Indian Coast Officer to serve as the Director General of ICG. Prior to him the position of DG ICG was held by Vice Admiral ranked officer from the Indian Navy. Early life Rajendra Singh Bisht hails from Uttarakhand and is born in a Rajput Family. He did his schooling from Mussoorie and graduation from Dehradun. Coast Guard career Singh joined the Indian Coast Guard in 1980. He has been one of the pioneers who charted the growth of the organization. As a Flag Officer he has commanded all the classes of ships in the inventory of the service. He was trained in the Maritime Search and Rescue (M-SAR) and Maritime Safety with the United States Coast Guard. Krishnaswamy Natarajan PVSM, PTM, TM, is a retired Indian Coast Guard officer who served as the 23rd Director General of the Indian Coast Guard. He assumed the office on 1 July 2019 and served until his superannuation on 31 December 2021. He is currently the Executive Director of Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against ships in Asia - Information Sharing Centre (ReCAAP, ISC) in Singapore. Vice Admiral Harish Chandra Singh Bisht, PVSM, AVSM, ADC is a former Flag Officer of the Indian Navy. He is an alumnus of the Sainik School Ghorakhal, Nainital; National Defence Academy Khadakvasla, Pune and the Naval Academy, Kochi and served as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command till his retirement on 31 October 2017. Education Bisht has done his schooling from Sainik School Ghorakhal, Nainital and is a graduate of the Royal Naval Staff College, Greenwich (UK), 1992 batch. Palk Bay
Palk Bay is a semi-enclosed shallow water body between the southeast coast of India and Sri Lanka, with a water depth maximum of 13 m. Palk Bay is located between 8° 50′ and 10° North latitudes and 78° 50′ and 80° 30′ East longitudes. The width of Palk Bay ranges from 57 to 107 km and the length is around 150 km. Palk Bay is considered to be one amongst the major sinks for sediments along with Gulf of Mannar. Sediments discharged by rivers and transported by the surf currents as littoral drift settle in this sink. Few scientists have tried to understand the wave characteristics within the Palk Bay. In the southern regions close to Dhanushkodi, wind seas dominate. The north-eastern region of Palk Bay is exposed to the Bay of Bengal through the shallow Palk Strait and hence the swells can enter the Palk Bay through this opening.
