Rajendra Prasad Singh
Rajendra Prasad "R. P." Singh (born 11 July 1974) is an Indian former footballer who played as a midfielder for Mohun Bagan and the India national team. Early life Singh was born in Cuttack, Odisha and is the son of former Odisha state football team captain and international footballer Debendra Prasad Singh. Club career Singh started playing football for SAI Hostel in Odisha in 1990. He played for SBI in the Cuttack League and later went to play for major division Indian clubs Mohun Bagan and Mahindra United FC. He was part of the Mohun Bagan squad that won their first NFL title in the 1997–98 season. Singh represented the state teams of Odisha and Bengal. He captained the Odisha side which reached the semi-finals in the 1993–94. He also represented Bengal which played in the Santosh Trophy and was part of the Bengal team which won in the 1998 and 1999 editions. Cuttack
Cuttack (, or officially Kataka ) in Odia is the former capital and the second largest city in the Indian state of Odisha. It is the headquarters of the Cuttack district. The National Football League (NFL) was a league competition featuring football clubs from India. Founded in 1996 through the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the NFL was the first football league in India to be organized on a national scale. The Delhi Cloth Mills Trophy, known simply as D.C.M. Trophy, was an invitational football tournament in India. It was held annually in New Delhi and was organised by the local Delhi Football Association. It was India's first football tournament to provide the national clubs with international exposure due to participation of international clubs from Asia and Europe. The Rovers Cup was an annual football tournament held in India, organized by the Western India Football Association. It was the second oldest tournament in India after Durand Cup. History Rovers Cup was incorporated by some British football enthusiasts in Bombay, Bombay Presidency, in 1890, as a form of amusement. After the foundation of Bombay Football Association (BFA) in 1902, the tournament became well organized. Patronised by Justice Russell, the tournament was firstly opened to British teams.
