Raja Inal Siregar (5 March 1938 – 5 September 2005) was governor of North Sumatra from 1988 to 1998. He was among the Mandala Airlines Flight 091 crash victims, succumbing to his injuries a day after the crash. Kaharuddin Nasution
Kaharuddin Nasution (23 July 192525 September 1990) was an Indonesian military official, diplomat, and former Governor of Riau from 1960 to 1966 and Governor of North Sumatra from 1983 to 1988. Early life Kaharuddin Nasution was born on 23 July 1925 in Medan, Dutch East Indies. He began his education at the ''Hollandsch-Inlandsche School'' (elementary school for native children) in 1930, and graduated from the school in 1937. He continued his studies at the ''Meer Uitgebreid Lager Onderwijs'' (junior high school) in Medan, and graduated from the school in 1940. Haji Tengku Rizal Nurdin (February 21, 1948 – September 5, 2005) was the 14th and 15th Governor of North Sumatra, Indonesia. He served from 1998 until his death on September 5, 2005. In that time he was serving in his second period (2003–2008). In the previous period (1998–2003), he was also the Governor of North Sumatra. North Sumatra ( id, Sumatra Utara) is a province of Indonesia located on the northern part of the island of Sumatra. Its capital and largest city is Medan. Mandala Airlines Flight 091
Mandala Airlines Flight 091 was a scheduled domestic passenger flight from Medan to Jakarta, operated by Mandala Airlines with a Boeing 737-200Adv. On September 5, 2005 at 10:15 a.m. WIB (UTC+7), the aircraft stalled and crashed into a heavily populated residential area seconds after taking off from Polonia International Airport. Of the 117 passengers and crews on board, only 17 survived. An additional 49 civilians on the ground were killed. The crash of Flight 091 was a shock to North Sumatrans as the leader of North Sumatra province, Governor Rizal Nurdin, and his predecessor Raja Inal Siregar, were among the passengers and both were killed in the crash.
