Raithu Bidda (1939 Film)
''Raithu Bidda'' (''English:'' Farmer of Common Origins) ( ''Telugu'': రైతు బిడ్డ, lit. Farmer-Son of the Soil) is a 1939 Telugu social problem film directed by Gudavalli Ramabrahmam. It is a social reformist film during the period of British India, at the time of battle against Zamindari system. The film was banned by the British Administration in the region. Ironically it was produced by one of the Zamindars of the time, '' Challapalli Maharaja''. The film had a public re-release in 1948. Gudavalli Ramabrahmam
Gudavalli Ramabrahmam was an Indian film film director, director, screenwriter, and film producer, producer who worked in Telugu cinema. He is known for directing critically acclaimed social problem films like ''Mala Pilla'' (1938) and ''Raithu Bidda'' (1939). At a time when mythological films were ruling the roost, Ramabrahmam ushered in a new era in Telugu cinema by making films on contemporary social issues. In 1937, he founded the film production company Sarathi Studios#Sarathi Films, Sarathi Films along with Raja of Challapalli, Yarlagadda Sivarama Prasad, Yaralagadda Sivarama Prasad. Kosaraju (poet)
Kosaraju Raghavayya (23 June 1905 – 27 October 1987), known mononumously by his surname Kosaraju, was an Indian lyricist and poet known for his works in Telugu cinema. He wrote about 3,000 songs in 350 films. His lyrics are steeped in Telugu folklore and rural idiom. He was awarded the prestigious Raghupathi Venkaiah Award by the Government of Andhra Pradesh for his contribution to Telugu cinema in 1984. Yarlagadda Sivarama Prasad
Yarlagadda Sivarama Prasad (3 April 1903 - 1976), also known as Challapalli Raja, was an Indian aristocrat, industrialist, politician, film producer, and film studio owner. He was the last hereditary zamindar of the Challapalli Samasthanam (estate)''.'' In politics, Sivarama Prasad was affiliated with the Indian National Congress. He served as the Minister of Health for Andhra Pradesh during the 1960s and was elected as an MLA from Krishna District. He established the Andhra Scientific Company. A zamindar ( Hindustani: Devanagari: , ; Persian: , ) in the Indian subcontinent was an autonomous or semiautonomous ruler of a province. The term itself came into use during the reign of Mughals and later the British had begun using it as a native synonym for “estate”. The term means ''land owner'' in Persian. Typically hereditary, from whom they reserved the right to collect tax on behalf of imperial courts or for military purposes.
