Raimo Kilpiö
Raimo Olavi Kilpiö (born 2 February 1936 in Parikkala, Finland) is a retired professional ice hockey player who played 459 games in the SM-liiga and its predecessor SM-sarja from 1953 to 1977. During his career he scored 261 goals and 492 points. He played for Ilves, RU-38, and Ässät. He is a six-time Finnish Champion and once won the bronze medal. He competed at the 1960 Winter Olympics and the 1964 Winter Olympics. He was inducted into the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame in 1985. Career Kilpiö made his SM-sarja debut with Ilves during the 1953–54 season. Kilpiö was one of the best forward stars of his time. Among other things, he was chosen four times as the best forward in the SM-sarja. Kilpiö won the Finnish championship six times, the first four of which came with Ilves, one in RU-38 and one in Ässät. In SM-sarja and SM-liiga, Kilpiö scored 492 points in 459 matches. The SM-liiga (marketed as just Liiga from 2013 on), (Finnish for ''League'') colloquially called the Finnish Elite League in English or FM-ligan in Swedish, is the top professional ice hockey league in Finland. It is one of the six founding leagues of the Champions Hockey League and currently allocated five spots - the maximum number - based on success in previous editions. It was created in 1975 to replace the SM-sarja, which was fundamentally an amateur league. The SM-liiga is not directly overseen by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association, but the league and association have an agreement of cooperation. Ilves Players
Ilves (; Finnish for "Lynx") is a Finnish professional ice hockey team based in Tampere. They play in the Liiga at the Tampere Deck Arena. The colors of Ilves, green, yellow, and black, were taken from what was then the coat of arms of the city of Tampere. History With sixteen championships, Ilves is the second most successful hockey team in the Finnish championship league, the Liiga, after their local rival Tappara. The club was founded in the spring of 1931, and it played its first game against Tampereen Palloilijat the next winter. Porin Ässät (men's Ice Hockey) Players
Porin Ässät ry is a sports club based in Pori, Finland. The club's only programs are ice hockey and esports, but it used to have an association football program. Porin Ässät ry operates an ice hockey team in the Finnish Elite League. Porin Ässät ry also has junior teams for all age groups from U7 to U20. Isomäki Areena (also known as West Areena for sponsorship reasons) is an ice hockey arena located in Pori, Finland. The arena is used by Porin Ässät and Karhu HT. The arena was opened in 1971 and the capacity for hockey games is 6 350. History Artificial ice rink The Isomäen tekojäärata (Isomäki artificial ice rink) was originally built as an artificial ice rink in 1964 and replaced the natural ice of Juhannuslehto in the Herralahti district. The following year, the B-series matches of the World Hockey Championships in Finland were played on this rink. The Raimo Kilpiö trophy is an ice hockey trophy awarded by the Finnish Liiga to the player who has shown the most sportsmanship and good behaviour as well as high quality performance for their team. It is named after Raimo Kilpiö who played in the top level of Finnish ice hockey for 21 years in 1953-77. Räshid Hakimsan
Räshid Hakimsan (5 April 1934 – 4 September 1997) was a Finnish ice hockey player and a referee. He played in SM-Sarja during 1951-1960 and won the Finnish Championship four times. Hakimsan played eight matches in Finnish junior national team. In addition to hockey, Hakimsan won silver at junior championship Swedish relay in 1951 and in 1952 as a footballer he won the Football Association of Finland junior championship and was awarded as the best in the team. Career Räshid Hakimsan represented his entire career the local team Ilves. During 1951-1960, he played 88 matches as an attacker, and his points were 64 + 35 = 99, and penalties 33 minutes.
