Railway Workshop, Mysore
Central Railway Workshop, Mysore is a repair facility of I ndian Railways situated at Mysore in Karnataka province of India. History The central workshop in Mysore was established as a base workshop of the old Mysore state railway in 1938. The workshop celebrated Golden Jubilee during the year 1988. Initially, the Workshop was headed by Works Manager till the year 1988. Thereafter, the Post of Workshop head was upgraded as Dy.Chief Mechanical Engineer. The first Dy.CME was Sri.K. Subramanyam. During the year 1992-93, the workshop was headed by Chief Workshop Manager for brief period as the workshop was being upgraded to cater to Periodic Overhauling of Broad Gauge Coaches. During the year 2004, the post of Workshop head was finally upgraded to Chief Workshop Manager and Sri.Sushil Chandra was the first incumbent to the post of CWM of Mysore Workshops under the new regime of South Western Railway. South Western Railway Zone
The South Western Railway (SWR) is one of the 19 railway zones in India, headquartered at Hubballi in Karnataka State. SWR was created from carving out the routes from Southern Railways, South Central Railways and Central Railways in 2003. History The South Western Railway zone came into existence on 1 April 2003 by bifurcating Mysuru and Bengaluru divisions from Southern Railway along with Hubballi division from South Central Railway. It is headquartered at Hubballi and comprises three divisions namely Hubballi, Mysuru, and Bengaluru. Transport In Mysore
Mysore is one of the most important cities in Karnataka due to its tourism and proximity with the capital city of Bangalore. It is the second largest urban agglomeration in the state of Karnataka. It has a well established road and rail transport with other cities in the country. Roads Mysore is connected by National Highway NH-212 Kollegala to the state border town of Gundlupet, where the road forks into the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
