The Railway Museum ( sr, Železnički muzej / Железнички музеј) is a museum located in the Savski Venac, Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. History It was founded on 1 February 1950. The first exhibition was held in 1953 under title "Through the history of Yugoslav Railways" ('). Museum is in possession of over 40,000 objects and also has an archive and library. It also operates the Šargan Eight narrow gauge heritage railway, running from the village of Mokra Gora to Šargan Vitasi station. Savski Venac
Savski Venac ( sr-cyr, Савски Венац, ) is a municipality of the city of Belgrade. According to the 2011 census results, the municipality has a population of 39,122 inhabitants. It is one of the three municipalities which constitute the very center of Belgrade, together with Stari Grad and Vračar. Savski Venac is located on the right bank of the Sava river. Šargan Eight
The Šargan Eight ( sr, / ) is a narrow-gauge heritage railway in Serbia, running from the village of Mokra Gora to Šargan Vitasi station. Modern line was restored in the summer of 2003. An extension to Višegrad in the Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, was finished on 28 August 2010. It was planned to extend the railway to the village of Kremna by the end of 2011, and in 2013 to extend to the city of Užice. "Museum-Tourism Complex Šargan Eight" within the Serbian Railways, which administers the railway, is seated in Mokra Gora. In rail transport, track gauge (in American English, alternatively track gage) is the distance between the two rails of a railway track. All vehicles on a rail network must have wheelsets that are compatible with the track gauge. Mokra Gora
Mokra Gora ( sr-cyr, Мокра Гора; ), meaning the ''Wet Mountain'' in English, is a village located in the city of Užice, southwestern Serbia. It is situated on the northern slopes of the Zlatibor mountains. Emphasis on historical reconstruction has made it into a popular tourist center with unique attractions. Ohrid Line
The Ohrid line was a narrow gauge railway line in what is now the Republic of North Macedonia. It ran to a gauge of . The route was: Skopje – Gostivar – Kičevo – Podmolje - Ohrid, a distance of . The section from Skopje - Gostivar was converted to standard gauge in the 1950s. The remaining lines were closed altogether in 1966. The standard gauge line now runs as far as Kičevo. Immediately before World War I, the area of Vardar Macedonia was part of Serbia, rather than Austria-Hungary. During the war it came under Bulgarian occupation.
