Rail Suicide
Rail suicide is deliberate self-harm resulting in death by means of a moving rail vehicle. The suicide occurs when an approaching train hits a suicidal pedestrian jumping onto, lying down on, or wandering or standing on the tracks. Low friction on the tracks usually makes it impossible for the train to stop quickly enough. On urban mass transit rail systems that use a high-voltage electrified third rail, the suicide may also touch or be otherwise drawn into contact with it, adding electrocution to the cause of death. Unlike other methods, rail suicide often has widespread effects. Trains must be rerouted temporarily to clean the tracks and investigate the fatality, causing delays for passengers and crews that may extend far beyond the site of the fatality, a costly economic inconvenience. Ufton Nervet Rail Crash
The Ufton Nervet rail crash was a collision between a train and car on a level crossing near Ufton Nervet, Berkshire, England, in 2004. Seven people, including the drivers of the train and the car, were killed. An inquest found that the crash was caused by the suicide of the car driver. Four further fatal incidents occurred on the level crossing between 2004 and 2014. In 2016, a road bridge replaced the level crossing. Collision On 6 November 2004 at 18:12 GMT, the 17:35 service from to , an InterCity 125 (HST) led by a Class 43 power car (43019) collided with a stationary Mazda 323 at an automatic level crossing close to the rural West Berkshire village of Ufton Nervet. Robert Minton (cricketer)
Robert Samuel Minton (4 January 1899 – 3 August 1928) was an English cricketer. Minton's batting style is unknown. He was born at Kensington, London, and was educated at Brighton College. Minton made a single first-class appearance for Sussex against Northamptonshire at the County Ground, Northampton, in the 1919 County Championship. Northamptonshire won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a total of 410. In reply, Sussex could only manage 125, with Minton making 24 runs before he was dismissed by Albert Wright. His score was the second highest individual score in Sussex's innings. Forced to follow-on, Sussex improved in their second-innings to make 365, though Minton himself was dismissed without scoring by William Wells. Northamptonshire went on to win the match by 8 wickets, in what was Minton's only major appearance for Sussex. ''Double Indemnity'' is a 1944 American crime film noir directed by Billy Wilder, co-written by Wilder and Raymond Chandler, and produced by Buddy DeSylva and Joseph Sistrom. The screenplay was based on James M. Cain's 1943 novel of the same title, which appeared as an eight-part serial for ''Liberty'' magazine in February 1936.
