Raghavendran Rajasekaran Tamil: ராகவேந்திரன் ராஜசேகரன் Devanagari Script: राघवेन्द्रन् राजशेखरन्, popularly known as ''Ragha'', is a classical flautist based in Singapore. Though trained in the traditional Indian baani, he is an avid western performer and experiments with different genres of music. Early life Ragha was born in Singapore on May 6, 1988, to Smt. Nalini Rajasekaran and Sri Rajasekaran. He has two siblings. He graduated in music from Lasalle College of Arts and Music, Singapore, with a major in jazz music trained under jazz virtuoso Tim O'Dwyer. At the age of 11, Ragha started his musical journey with the classical Indian flute under the tutelage of Ghanavenothan Rethnam, who is his guru to date. He also had special training from Trichy L. Vasantham is a Singaporean free-to-air television channel owned by Mediacorp. The network is focused towards the Singaporean Indian community in the country. It was originally launched on 1 September 1995 as Premiere 12. Tamil programming was included on 30 January 2000 when the channel was rebranded as Central as Vasantham Central, and was later rebranded again as an independent Tamil-language channel on 19 October 2008. Bansuri Players
A bansuri is an ancient side blown flute originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is an aerophone produced from bamboo and metal like material used in Hindustani classical music. It is referred to as ''nadi'' and ''tunava'' in the ''Rigveda'' and other Vedic texts of Hinduism. Its importance and operation is discussed in the Sanskrit text ''Natya Shastra''. A ''bansuri'' is traditionally made from a single hollow shaft of bamboo with six or seven finger holes. Some modern designs come in ivory, fiberglass and various metals. The six hole instrument covers two and a half octaves of music. The ''bansuri'' is typically between and in length, and the thickness of a human thumb.
