Rafael Sotomayor Gaete
Rafael Segundo Sotomayor Gaete (November 16, 1848 – February 16, 1918) was a Chilean politician and several times minister. He was born in Cauquenes, the son of Rafael Sotomayor Baeza and of Pabla del Carmen Gaete Ruiz. He studied at the Instituto Nacional and later graduated as a lawyer from the Universidad de Chile on January 7, 1871. During the War of the Pacific, he accompanied his father, who was the Minister of War, as personal secretary and auditor, and after his death, in 1880, he became CO of the Customs House Guard in Iquique and later Intendant of Tarapacá. On May 4, 1895, he married Inés Neuhaus Ugarteche, and together they had 6 children. He joined the Radical Party, and in 1898 President Federico Errázuriz Echaurren appointed him Minister of Finance (1898–1899) first and Minister of the Interior later (1899). Cauquenes, Chile

Santa María School Massacre
The Santa María School massacre was a massacre of striking workers, mostly saltpeter works (nitrate) miners, along with wives and children, committed by the Chilean Army in Iquique, Chile on December 21, 1907. The number of victims is undetermined but is estimated to be over 2,000. It occurred during the peak of the nitrate mining era, which coincided with the Parliamentary Period in Chilean political history (1891–1925). With the massacre and an ensuing reign of terror, not only was the strike broken, but the workers' movement was thrown into limbo for over a decade. For decades afterward there was official suppression of knowledge of the incident, but in 2007 the government conducted a highly publicized commemoration of its centenary, including an official national day of mourning and the reinterment of the victims' remains. Emilio Bello Codesido (13 July 1868 – 3 March 1963) was a Chilean lawyer, diplomat, deputy and President of the Government Junta that ruled Chile in 1925. He was the son of Andrés Ricardo Bello, and grandson of Andres Bello, who authored the Civil Code of Chile. He did his early studies at the Colegio inglés, the Instituto Nacional and the Universidad de Chile, graduating as a lawyer in 1889. Due to his support of president José Manuel Balmaceda during the 1891 Chilean Civil War, he was forced to exile himself. He later was allowed to return and organized the Liberal Democratic Party in Valparaiso. He was several times minister and ambassador to Bolivia and México. Ramón Barros Luco
Ramón Barros Luco (; June 9, 1835 – September 20, 1919) was President of Chile between 1910 and 1915. Barros Luco was born in 1835 in Santiago, Barros Luco was son of Ramón Luis Barros Fernández and Dolores Luco Fernández de Leiva. He graduated from Law School in 1858. He died in Santiago in 1919. He was elected representative for the city of Casablanca in 1861, and from then on occupied a seat in the Lower House, being elected representative for Caldera (1867–70), Curicó (1870–73), Valparaíso (1873–76, and 1888–91), as well as for Santiago, during four separate terms, between 1876 and 1894.
